WORSE ON SATURDAY AND MORE CLOUDS ON SUNDAY. >>> A THEFT CAUGHT ON CAMERA SHOWS HOW EASY THIEVES CAN STEAL PURSES IN VERY PUBLIC PLACES LIKE RESTAURANTS. >> THIS HAPPENED TO A WELL- KNOWN PUERTO RICAN CHEF VISITING AT THE TIME.

A SUSPECT EVEN WENT ON A SHOPPING SPREE WITH THE VICTIMS CREDIT CARD. >> NOW A STORY YOU ONLY SEE ON 6. >> CONSIDERING HOW IMPORTANT TOURISM IS IN THE CITY OF MIAMI, THIS IS CERTAINLY CONCERNING FRUSTRATING ESPECIALLY FOR MANY WOMEN WHO

OFTEN TIMES DON’T HAVE MANY OPTIONS ON WHERE TO PUT THEIR PURSES IN PLACES LIKE RESTAURANTS. THIS SERVES AS A CAUTIONARY TALE AND ALSO POLICE ARE HOPING THAT SOMEONE WILL RECOGNIZE THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE. MARISOL HERNANDEZ WAS ENJOYING A NICE NIGHT OUT WHEN IN A

MATTER OF SECONDS AND SEEMINGLY RIGHT UNDER HER NOSE A WOMAN WALKS RIGHT BY HER AND CASUALLY SLIPS HER BLACK GUCCI PURSE RIGHT OFF THE BACK OF HER CHAIR. >> THEY TOOK MY THINGS. IT’S MATERIAL STUFF BUT STILL IT’S YOURS YOU FEEL FRUSTRATED.

>> Reporter: INSIDE THE PURSE WAS A WALLET WITH CREDIT CARDS, $1200 CASH AND A PAIR OF CARTIER GLASSES VALUED ALMOST $4000. THE NIGHTMARE DID NOT AND THERE. >> THE THIEF WENT SHOPPING THAT NIGHT AND THEY HAD FUN WITH MY MONEY AND MY CREDIT CARD.

>> Reporter: ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT THE SUSPECT MADE CREDIT CARD PURCHASES AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS SPINNING ABOUT $1800. >> THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN THAN YOU THINK. WOMEN GO TO PLACES AND PUT THEIR PURSES ON THE CHAIR

THINKING IS THERE, IT SAFE. I CAN FEEL IF SOMEBODY REACHES FORWARD. AND IT REALLY DOESN’T HAPPEN THAT WAY. >> Reporter: MARISOL WHO IS A PUERTO RICAN CHEF AND WRITER WAS IN TOWN FOR BUSINESS MEETINGS AND TO WROTE HER BOOK

WHICH IS CURRENTLY SELLING IT BOOKSTORES. YOU CAN SEE HER POSING HERE WITH THE DESIGNER BAG THAT WAS STOLEN. SHE DECIDED TO TACK ON A FEW MORE DAYS TO HANG OUT WITH FRIENDS IN MIAMI WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED.

SHE SHOWED US HOW SHE WAS ABLE TO TRACK THE WHEREABOUTS OF HER PURSE USING AIRTAG. BUT NOT EVEN THAT COULD REUNITE HER WITH HER BELONGINGS. >> IT WAS IN AN APARTMENT BUILDING WORKED WAS PINGING, IN ORDER FOR US TO GO INTO AN

APARTMENT BUILDING AND KNOCK DOOR TO DOOR WE WOULD HAVE TO GET A COURT ORDER. THERE CERTAIN PROCEDURES WE WOULD HAVE TO DO. >>> TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT YOUR SCREEN. PLEASE WANT TO KNOW IF YOU RECOGNIZE THIS WOMAN. MARISOL HOPES SOMEONE WILL COME

FORWARD WITH INFORMATION EVEN IF SHE DOESN’T GET HER THINGS BACK. >> I KNOW I CANNOT HAVE MY THINGS BACK, MONEY IS MONEY, CREDIT CARDS OR CREDIT CARDS. BUT I REALLY WANT JUSTICE. >> Reporter: SHE SAYS DESPITE THE BAD EXPERIENCE, SHE STILL

PLANS TO CONTINUE VISITING MIAMI.

  1. You Tube won't ALLOW me to say what I really feel a bout that thing. So I'll just say, she is a pillar of the community. Wink wink.

  2. Hey, NBC 7, are you blurring the perp's face because she's black, and still asking us if we recognize her?

  3. No one is surprised at the demographic of the thief, and what's up with blurring out the face of the guilty, the laws are to protect the criminals not the victims?

  4. Wow I thought America was a nice country but all I hear is crime and drug problem and homeless issues
    What’s happening

  5. Women are FAMOUS for hanging their purses or bags at the back of their chair. Then it’s out of their sight and the furtherest thing on their mind. What I don’t understand is how they cannot zero in on the exact location because the iPhone can track an Apple AirTag down to THREE INCHES. I have 15 Apple AirTags and I have tested them out. It is very easy to track it and the Find My iPhone app has step by step instructions. She probably doesn’t know how to use the app.

  6. “Women in the streets”? Yes dear, it is most popular. Now the ho will buy expensive foo foo, and smell good for the men, that also bought the purse, and the one who was stupid enough to hang it on the back of her chair, “next to the runway”. Nyuk nyuk nyuk, “another day @ the office”.

  7. To tell the people, “who pay you”, how useless you are, “must be hard for our public servants”. Totally useless, “TO US”. They serve politicians. They die now, “for politicians”. They do not understand.
