McKinney, Texas Travel Guide – Top 5 Things to Do

Here are the Top 5 Things to Do in McKinney, Texas. This list includes downtown McKinney, the small Mediterranean village known as the Adriatica, unique by nature areas like Erwin Park and Town Lake and Heard Natural Science Museum. This is one Texas day trip destination you don’t want to miss!

My name is Michael with Film Compass, and I had the wonderful fortune to visit McKinney, Texas. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy this McKinney Travel Guide video.

1. Downtown McKinney, Texas – the historical district of downtown McKinney is full of shopping opportunities. You’ll find over 120 shops to choose from but shopping isn’t only thing available downtown. Fantastic restaurants such as Local Yocal, Cocktail Creamery, Cadillac Pizza Pub and The Celt Irish Bar are all amazing places to grab some food. For Coffee you have two spots I would recommend – Collective Coffee and Filtered – both of which offer unique interior that is perfect for relaxing.

2. Adriatica Mediterranean Village – the Adriatica in McKinney is a 45 acre village located in the Stonebridge Ranch Development area. It is wonderful place to have picnic, take photos or go for a walk. I love enjoying an evening here overlooking Bella Donna Chapel.

3. McKinney Parks – Three parks come to mind when visiting McKinney – Erwin Park, Town Lake and Bonnie Wenk. All of which offer something unique. Erwin is a great place to bring your mountain bike and enjoy the jump skills area. The park sits on over 212 acres and offers over 8 miles of mountain bike trails. Next up is Town Lake Park, this place is perfect for relaxing or playing volleyball. Last on the list of unique parks is Bonnie Wenk – this park is connected to the Wilson Creek Trail and features and all abilities playground perfect for children.

4. Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary – Sitting on over 289 acres, this museum and nature sanctuary is a great spot for a hike or take the kids to learn something new. It features several miles of hiking trails of which my favorite would have to be the Wood Duck Trail that takes you over the sanctuary’s wetlands. There’s also bobcats and deer that are sheltered here so don’t forget to say hi to them while venturing into the woods.

5. TPC Craig Ranch – while this may be a private golf course, TPC Craig Ranch holds the Byron Nelson Tournament every May. This golf tournament is a great time to enjoy the greatest game ever played. I would highly recommend attending this tournament if you are into golf.

Cocktail crey no matter what you intend on doing downtown though you’ll have a fun adventure exploring and learning more about what makes this District so unique have you ever wished you could get your picture taken in a Mediterranean Village without having to spend all that money on a flight ticket

Well then you should head to the Adriatica inspired by Croatian AR architecture the Adriatica encompasses about 45 Acres of shops restaurants offices and apartment housing it’s the perfect place to stretch your legs and have a picnic or get your photo taken I love coming here to relax and look out

On the lake and belladon Chapel it’s a great little getaway that’ll make you feel like you stepped into Europe without having the jet lag that comes with it it’s no secret that mcken is unique by Nature so next up I have a few parks for you to check

Out the first on my list is my favorite Irwin Park here you’ll have a great choice of hiking trails and camping spots but the coolest thing Irwin Park offers is the mountain bike skills area this area is a six line beginner intermediate and advanced difficulty downhill jump line drop course the lines

Connect to the already established 8 mes of dirt bike trails so ride till your heart’s content the next Park you should check out is none other than Town Lake this park is located in the heart of mckin and boasts a 22 acre Lake that features a dock for for fishing and

Fantastic volleyball courts for your competitive side the last on the list of parks I think you should check out is Bonnie Wink Park this place is a great spot to relax it features a 5 acre Pond for fishing a large set of Lacrosse Fields walking trails and an all

Abilities playground for children to play on next up we have the herd Natural Science Museum this wildlife and nature Sanctuary spans over 289 acres and makes for a great afternoon Adventure it’s a great place to bring the kids and let them explore the many wonders this habitat provides my favorite thing about

This place would be the Wood Duck Trail that takes you over the sanctuary’s wetlands on your way to the wetlands don’t forget to say hi to the Bobcats and the deer that call this place home last on the list is TPC Craig Ranch a PGA Tour golf course home to PGA

Championships like the Byron Nelson this private golf course is a testament to the greatest game ever played held in May the Byron Nelson Tournament is the leading fundraiser for charity on the PGA tour and has raised more than $143 million that’s everything I hope you enjoy this
