What’s up everybody it’s that time of year again what time of year is that Trev new drivers which side sorry this this is yeah that’s your better side new driver so new driver time of year tell us 2024 season is here and uh the first product we are testing for 2024 is

Cobra’s new driver yeah and it is the new let’s keep that club head of cover on don’t dark speed driver by Cobra so far it’s a win with that just that club head so we’re going to test this also we have a brand new toy in Studio we got ourselves a cool little

Touchcreen that we can draw on so what’s going to happen today Trevor’s going to go full with Troy aan on us when Tate throws out one of his patented hosle Rockets way out here you’re going to see in the little neighborhood here little Timmy playing in his backyard little Timmy’s going to

Be out in the swing set and Tate’s going to take him down with one of the classic hle Rockets so poor Timmy never saw it coming let’s Go don’t forget if you’re in the Denver metro area come to our showroom today you can get fitted for all of our golf equipment here also if you’re not local and you want to get something from us and you know what you need uh stock or whatever it is uh apparel equipment

Email us at golf Embers living we’ll put that on the screen right here you can send us an email Tate and I will directly respond to you and we can get your order going yeah or Embers golf.com sign up for a fitting get in here today

Get going yep so how do you want to do you want to hit our Baseline first with last year before we reveal yes the dark speed yeah and then we can break down the technology once let’s get five good shots of each with our AO jet now here’s

The thing tell us the thing Chief in 2023 the AO jet was one of the fastest and most forgiving drivers of the year it’s actually one of the best drivers I’ve ever hit wouldn’t you say yes so I think in my opinion dark speed is going to

Have its work cut out for it because the arrow jet was no joke sounds good feels good it’s hot fast forgiving tough driver to beat theate ball speed 56 1/2 mph spins Just a Touch high but not terrible um Carry in total those are good numbers now remember we’re at altitudes we’re at

5280 I was a little low today so 142 Club hit ball speed spin wasn’t terrible yeah I was pulling a few left and then same thing Tate 1106 that’s fast yep 103.5 still fast still fast for me you got a in the tank though yeah so let’s unveil dark

Speed oo that’s pretty good looking so this one is the max but all matte you can kind of see the carbon fiber but matte finish hence the name dark speed let’s check these ones out so we got three new models right here’s the the low spin model so

This is the ls it’s going to be the smallest head the max is obviously the largest head it’s going to be a little higher launching little more draw biased little more forgiving yeah the draw biased is going to come from that weight in the heel so and then show them the the

Regular one the regular and look at that you almost have like little color combinations so the ls is all black the Max has got the red and then the the regular is going to have the blue so let’s talk about some improvements that they’ve done with the driver it’s pretty

Cool to see these sort of taken apart so the first the first big Improvement is obvious they 100% redid the looks of it the colorways all of that the backs even the the carbon fiber on the bottom the looks have been redone and I think huge Improvement there in that category and

So let’s start with the biggest piece of tech or the most obvious piece of technology here and that’s going to be the aerodynamic so one thing that makes uh Cobra has been making really good drivers for a long time they do their research and analytics I’m sure like all

Departments do but they seem to have really nailed the aerodynamics and shape of a driver to give it a faster as it’s cutting through the wind it’s just faster yeah and we’ve seen it on car commercials when they have it in a bay and then they have the really high winds

Going and then they can see how the wind wraps it it’s going to be that same kind of process that they put this through so they’ve changed the shape a little bit so if you look at the arrow jet hold the arrow jet for me y if you look here

We’re much more rounded see that versus this is a little more flattened out so we got a different shape and I think it’s a little more curved right here too but anyways different shape to promote better aerodynamics so that should create a faster Club head speed for us

Right yep we see this uh carbon fiber on the top now the second piece of technology let’s get into is our power Bridge so the power bridge on the inside it gives us that trampoline effect this has been redesigned as well the shape of this it’s made of that same titanium

Material that the face is made out of and um so that’s been redesigned for some improvements too other piece of technology is the hot face so the hot face has been redesigned um this very thickness on this face it’s really cool to see the inside of this and see it’s

Like thicker in the middle and then it’s got some thinner spots on the face that allows for 15 points of contact that allow for forgiveness and to literally keep the face hot yes so no matter if you’re hitting it off the toe a little towards the heel it’s not going to

Punish you ball distance-wise both with ball speed yes now also because they’ve lightened this driver I think this is my favorite piece of technology I don’t know we’re going to have to get in and hit it yeah but on the original aerrow jet the stock driver which is what we

Were both playing yep and I’m curious to see which one we’re going to like the best um we had one weight in the back which you know would allow for more forgiveness pulling that weight towards the back of the club a higher launch so they’ve pulled this weight more towards

The middle of the face and then what’s really cool so we got a 12 G weight and then a 3 G weight so now we have some adjustability if you want a little more power you can keep it in the neutral position if you need it to be launching

Higher and make it a touch more forgiving you can swap these two weights so I love that the the main driver gave us adjustability yes now in the low without buying anything extra they’ve even added another weight same thing in the low spin model so the

Max I mean the low spin same thing the arrow jet we just had the two weights here now we’ve added a third weight and again we can really start tinkering with this thing and we can even make a low spin driver more forgiving by putting a heavier weight in the back that’s pretty

Cool because if you need the power of the low spin the problem is is we didn’t play the low spins because we’re I’m not good enough at golf right but and I’m curious to see when we put it in the simulator but the low spin driver when

You nuke one would be about 10 m for me about 10 m hour faster on the off the face when you sweet spot it when you sweet spot and then the max even has the two different weights for customization there so you can adjust it a little bit

Which is awesome I think in this lineup every single head no matter which one you go with not only do you have the standard um hosle adjustments here for your face but now you have weight adjustments on every head to be able to flip things around if you need

Adjustments you know in the on the fly on the Range session all of that so on paper it’s better it looks better better technology some improvements in the shape of the club but now it’s time to put the pen to paper as they say yeah is

That what they say uh sure and see if that’s actually true what do you want to start with Max probably let’s start with the max how’s it feel data for me good feels really good does it feel a lot different or does it kind of feel Sim has a similar

Feel to it it has a similar feel okay so my ball speed with my aerrow jet was 142 mph actually went down with the max now again this isn’t Apples to Apples because we were hitting the AO jet X versus the max so it’s not quite going to be the same

Higher spin rate for me um went almost the exact same it carried further but that’s because it was too high for me so if you look higher descent and spin yeah so 10° more descent angle too yeah so too high launching it felt let’s check out club give me Club data so my

Arrow jet I was hitting about call it 103 down down to 98 mhm so I lost some speed it felt a little heavy and a little chunky on the max yeah so I don’t think it did exactly what it’s supposed to do it hit it high and and let’s see

Yours created a it did if we look at the dispersion I bet our dispersion was better same thing so Tate was a little slower couple miles hour slower okay 500 wat RPM spin spin too much spin descent angle was only 5° more so get high about the same you did get it

Higher yeah so again I just I don’t think that driver head is a good fit for us now if we look at dispersion if you go to compare here’s my dispersion rate with my aerrow jet so I’m all over the Fairway or all over the golf course right look at my

Max look how much smaller that dispersion rate is so even though I was slower it’s much more forgiving it’s definitely more forgiving it’s going to be more and play more now I think think the X for us is going to be the best well let’s compare yours quick yeah look

At that son of a gun much tighter dispersion rate distance-wise look at that you’re about the same yeah so again tighter so now let’s see if we can combine The Best of Both Worlds with the regular X model that’s this is the one I’m most excited to hit all right you

Notice we’re in different clothes we got good data on the max yep but uh we ran out of gas just neither one of us were hitting good it was a terrible terrible day in the fitting in the fitting studio so we thought we needed to try again

Another day sometimes you just live to fight another day it’s just wasn’t our day so now we got our Baseline for the aerrow jet still um we just went through that off camera so all of our data is in there for the aerrow jet now we’re going

To hit the X which is like again the middle of the road one biggest thing I’m looking for is now with these shiftable weights I have the heavier weight in the front Okay so it’s going to be be a lower launch so I actually ticked it up

A degree so I’m hitting this at 10° okay and I have a little bit higher launch and shaft in this do same shaft as the arrow jet though let’s do it all right so walk me through the data Trev what are we looking at so aerrow

Jet 146 uh Club ball speed 2600 RPM backspin um 248 275 total carry all right okay so faster ball speed incrementally not by a lot little bit higher Spin and it did go further 258 to 281 did go further so not a it’s it’s comparable not it’s not humongous yeah

Now what about Club head speed okay2 mph on my arrow jet okay up and yeah so so it is faster 3 mph faster that’s pretty good there definitely faster ooh look at that now here’s the big difference here’s my dispersion now when we say dispersion is means how far you’re spraying the ball

So my circle is more in play than my arrow jet look how look at that that’s a pretty big difference now here’s it looks like dark speed to me our ball speed little bit better launch angle higher Spin and your distance and about 6 yard further 10 yd further carry probably cuz

It’s getting in the air a little bit better yeah okay now let’s look at your numbers okay so the first one ball speed you can see there Arrow Jets 158 the model X of the dark speed I got a 1.2 mph faster ball speed so that’s pretty

Good that should equate to yardage right well carry was less 258 with arrow with the AO jet 257 with the dark speed but I had an additional one yard roll out so 283 to 284 so I did get more yardage more efficient and a slower head speed

Wow you’re hitting the a now in my defense though today I had my arrow jet up in the 117s a few times yeah so we took out Tates one really massive Mish hit so this lighter one that’s the dark speed and then this inner one that’s my

Arrow jet what are you almost ex you’re close with your drawings I’m John M it goes a square out here with the low spin we are probably looking at massive amounts less forgiveness but we should see a pretty big uptick in ball speed right Tate better better ball

Speed should be better ball speed when hit in the sweet spot for sure that’s 300 got it baby all right I’m ending thereo all right here’s Tates and eyes low spin driver ball speed is good though we’re we’re up on both so check this out we

Both were higher okay my spin was way too low that’s why I had the snap hooks left they did did not go further and the reason is is our dispersion is so bad mine is so bad it’s literally off the page look at that I mean that’s a

Football field mhm and mine is a football yours is a football so not our driver we’re not going to dive into it I really think guys take your ego out of it and unless you’re playing in some tournaments or something where you need yardage and you’re playing tips and

You’re really really good single digigit golfer even a lot of single digit golfers aren’t going to be playing most spin no and it’s all about ball contact and swing speed yeah so if you’re in the 120s swing speed and your ball contact is very consistent the low spin is

Probably a driver you’re going to want to hit yeah if you’re 115 and Below swing speed and you’re not the purest ball Striker the low spin is not going to do you any favors yeah it’s not going to help you at all so would you say that

It’s better okay so we we’ve established that the the low spin is fun to play around with in here but it’s not our driver no I think we both would go with the the X Series yep Max was little chunky a little heavy yeah um but it was

Forgiving it did exactly what it was supposed to final take on the dark speed the dark speed the dark speed you think the darkness is your ally I was born in the dark um the hard thing is is the arrow jet was my favorite driver last year so if

You’re in the number one spot for 2023 it it doesn’t it’s a fantastic driver and its upgrade was very very minimal from the Aero jet I yes but it was faster it was faster it was more forgiving and it did go further and it looks better yeah yep same here it’s it

It’s not a a leap it’s not leaping off the page compared to the arrow jet but like Tate said it really just can’t yeah it’s not possible I mean you can’t have 50% leaps every year right and so it is better but my take is is the aerrow

Jet’s on a one-year life cycle so it’s been discounted to $399 until they’re gone I bet you they’ll be able to keep inventory for another 6 months or so right I would have a hard time as a consumer not jumping on the Aro jet for a killer deal $400 AB I don’t think

You’ll see a huge significant jump dollar-wise now if you just it is better so if you want a better Club definitely spring for it but you’re not jumping off the page better that $3.99 is killer killer deal while they’re still inventory so if you want one of the best

Drivers ever made for under $400 technically yeah take a look at that aerrow jet until they’re gone but the dark speed I guarantee you is going to be a top five driver for 2024 yeah I would it’s our first driver we’ve tested for 24 and it’s better we technically still have sxie

Because that’s not a new driver that’s staying as the current driver for 2024 yep so so far for 24 we know we have the Srixon driver the uh dark speed which we just tested yep the mauno staying the same yep so that’s another twoyear cycle and

I think a lot of the big players have brand new stuff coming especially Callaway Taylor Maiden ping you know those three are coming out big ones we know they got some big reveals coming up soon so of course we’re going to test those as soon as we can my take is if

You can still snag an arrow jet save the money and grab one of those but uh if you can’t this is going to be a premium premium driver we’ll see you guys next time yeah thanks

  1. While the whole world jumped on the new Ping G430 10k & TaylorMade QI10, you guys did the Cobra!
Thanks guys that was enlightning. (BTW I found your channel, researching the PXG 0311 GEN5)
I love that you guys hit it like me (well I'm 40 yards shorter with driver on a good day 😂 ), I hover between 11 and a 13 handicap, so I value your opinion more than the pros.

  2. Watched you guys for a while. I would think you guys would be opposite in terms of spin. Tayte low spin and trevor high spin with steeper swing. Just shows we all need to be fit. Do u guys offer military discounts on equipment?

  3. I thought the embargo on these wasn't up until Thursday? 🤣 Drivers look great though. I played the Aerojet for a while last year and got some fun ball speed numbers out of it!

  4. Awesome as usual, Thank you. Great looking driver, for me I thinks it looks was better than the AeroJet. I can see where golfers that are currently using the RadSpeed and older would want to upgrade the the new one. Other than those that are buying the 'latest and greatest' every year, I'm not sure the current AeroJet users will really see any performance differences other than the changeable weights and still not many mid to mid-high hcp will really be changing weights around.

  5. Cobra has rlly been surprising me these last couple of years bc they rlly came out of nowhere price and technology wise

  6. Can't take a driver review where I see 5000 spins and 3600 averages. Use properly fitted clubs with optimized conditions.

  7. 2300 RPM is actually optimal….To everyone watching these videos, take them with a grain of salt. They don’t always know what there talking about when it comes to numbers. They have some good points, and some misinformation.

  8. The one thing I hate about Cobra is that each year they change the weight shapes. So you cannot use any weights or weight packages you may have purchased. Love their drivers but hate that weight change each year.

  9. great review boys I think this years Driver lineup is gonna very competitive across the board will be tough to choose which brand to go with just wish the prices were not so outlandish 800-900 canadian for a driver is getting pretty steep cheers all from Vulcan Canada

  10. Did they feel more aerodynamic? Faster in the hands? I play a G430-LS driver with a 90 MPH swing speed, I feel like it cuts faster w the 440 head and I need help with side spin.

  11. Video idea. Whenever I watch golf videos right now, almost ever ad is for “the straight stick golf trainer” a video on this would be super interesting if you guys think this “trainer” has any actual value.

  12. Cobra tested/fitted the best for me. Got the LTDx irons and aerojet driver. Will have to try out Darkspeed woods.
