Hello and welcome everybody to a quick discussion about a response to the golf ball announcement so at the end of 2023 Oh Happy New Year’s everybody it’s the beginning of 2024 we have an announcement that they’re going to limit golf balls all right well the golf balls have been limited anyway just

By their size and aerodynamics okay like there’s not a golf ball that’s going to you know you hit a golf ball and let’s say a prov1x that’s what this is prov1x goes let’s say 300 and some odd yards not me I don’t hit it that far but let’s

Say a pro does 320 yards when they hit a prov1x and let’s say you could just magically designed when that goes a, yards well they don’t haven’t invented that yet because of limitations of the aerodynamics and materials so we’re naturally limited anyway and so now they’re going to decrease that a little

Bit okay that’s fine fine by me I mean what I meant to say was don’t touch my balls message to the USGA and RNA don’t touch my ball I like long balls sounds like some sort of rap song Oh I know what I’m thinking of there was one oh

What was it called there was a movie I saw in college where they had this song called I got I sweat on my balls or something anyway don’t that would be don’t sweat on my balls either way there’s kind of this like backlash of like this is terrible

Why are they doing this but it to me that’s what you know they are golf balls are just limitations they’ve always been limitations and that’s why it was such a huge thing when they came out with the prov1 you know what 20 some odd years

Ago they were like look you get an extra 30 yards and they’re not rolling it back that far but they’re rolling it back a little bit they’re just saying hey this is just the cap of where golf balls are which to me is fine this reminds me of

Also like the Formula 1 debacle for anybody that watches Top Gear or knows Jeremy Clarkson how he’s so outspoken about like Formula 1 this was back in the olden days when you know this was a 900 horsepower v8 monster now they have these tiny little engines that they’re

Trying to get the most power out of and so they limited the capacity of the engines is Formula 1 soft and squidgy now that it’s been limited no it’s not it’s it’s just an incredible competition and lots of people go crazy and Las Vegas manhole covers get ripped off

Their ripped out of the street so to me I’m frankly not terribly worried about it I mean it’s fun to make videos where you’re like don’t sweat on my balls I like long balls uh whatever but that’s not how I feel genuinely I genuinely am like okay everything else I mean

Everything is regulated in all competition everywhere well we need to make the basketball small smaller because all right you see where I’m going so for me not a big deal let me know your thoughts in the comments below this is the place where you can Rage or just be neutral or

Support the decision I don’t know I don’t I’m kind of neutral I I get both sides I mean I like the idea of like oh we’re not limited by the golf ball just that idea I understand psychologically influen people oh the ball’s regulated but for a new golfer I

Can see that working both ways I can be like oh I wanted to hit it as long as the pros which they still might be able to do and the other thing is I can see that working in the other direction where they’re like oh we’re all on the same

Playing field it doesn’t matter that I’ve been playing for two weeks and you’ve been playing for seven years we both have the same golf ball and we’re not limited by that so and to me I feel like golf ball competition is caught up to each other so all the tailor made

Golf balls all the Titleist golf balls all the Bridgestone golf balls they’re all kind of on that same Plateau so we’re just taking that plateau and just moving it back a little bit but it’s still they’re all going to be the same right it’s fair competition

In my opinion so let me know your thoughts in the comments well I just grabbed these because they were here on my review table uh these are from what I understand some of these like or uh McIntyre golf balls are limited by aerodynamics uh some people say these

Are just Wilson golf balls that have been ramped but either way the aerodynamics will limit these golf balls so it would be fun you know to see some interesting dimple patterns which they probably won’t do but it would be fun anyway let me know your thoughts about

The golf balls in the comments below uh we’re just going to transition now to talk about well since we’re going to transition here with a Talking Hands video to Fantasy Golf so I’m not going to show any season leaders because we want a fresh start so fantasy golf is

  1. Everybody hits the ball too far today, not just the Pros. Many average club golfers can reach par fives in two shots and they'll be hitting a lot of short irons and wedges into greens when playing par fours and expect to be able to drive the shorter ones.
We don't play the full range of shots any more, If he's got a good drive away, how often on a par 4 would a younger guy expect to hit a fairway wood into a green? Even the Pros used to have to do that on holes of around 450 yards or more.

  2. i dont agree with it but i do kinda agree with mcilroy. we average golfers really arent going to notice. i mean we're talking 4yrs from now? we'll be lucky if we're even playing every weekend thanks to them greedy politicians. but for real, do i allllllways hit 300yds with a prov1? no. so how can i say that the rollback hasnt already started if my next game never hits past 280?

everytime im on a course and i happen to catch up to players, not a single time do any of them even have modern or even matching clubs. they all use dad's or grampa's vintage sets, so you really think they're gonna notice a ball not hitting the same distance?

  3. So happy your back.Iwas so worried that you were not making any more videos as I love the videos that you produce.I’ve literally been checking my feed for new video notifications from the vintage golfer every day lol

  4. I'm a bogey golfer. I seriously doubt that I'll notice any difference. I golfed quite a bit in the 90's and I had a lower handicap. I golfed, maybe 1 round per year in the 2000's until 2021. Now I try to golf weekly. Clubs and balls are very different than when I golfed in the 90's. I have new clubs that I'm still getting used to and I'm always trying out different golf balls. My favorites/what's working for me are the TP5s and the Callaway SuperSoft mattes. My drives average about 225. I'm out to have a fun time with friends, getting a little exercise, a just enjoying the game.

  5. If you look at most golfers today they’re swinging at the ball faster on average. In the late 90s and early 2000s there was only a couple players on the PGA TOUR that were swinging it as fast as Tiger Woods and John Daly. Just look at the young junior kids and college players. Many are swinging significantly faster.

Comparing older drivers from the 90s to early 2000s to today’s drivers, today’s drivers are significantly longer from what I’ve seen in tests. So in the past 20 some years golfers have got a lot of help with distance. I don’t think the golf ball rollback is a bad idea and if it is too much for someone, they can always play up a tee box or practice more on their short game to compensate.

I know Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods have been vocal about rolling the golf ball back for quite some time. I think golfers have to look at the big picture and not just from a me perspective. People will still enjoy the game of golf just as they did. 20+ years ago. It still is going to be a fun challenging game that most people can’t get enough playing.

  6. If you dont play competitive events, you shouldn't care.

I kinda doubt theyre gonna stop making tbe balls we use today.

  7. With everyone playing the shorter golf ball the longer hitters still have the advantage but now they will be hitting more fairways.
