They should be and uh exciting times with with basically I suppose a new team for yourselves it’s very exciting the last couple of weeks around the village everyone’s been looking forward to it and it’s been a few years there since we’ve been back since we’ve been in a
Final uh we’ve lost a lot of experienced players since the last day so there’s been a bit of rebuilding job um the young fellas are um delighted to be back in the fin we’re delighted to happen there and we’re looking forward to something yeah yeah and I suppose we’ll look back
Before we go forward um you know huge results all through this I mean h it’s it’s something you could nearly write a book on at this stage All The Comebacks and all the different things that have happened with this team they’re never beaten you know that never said IR at
New spirit as you said there’s a nice blend of Youth and experience but just off hand you know drawn the first day with h hey you beat on 11 then and you know probably the score line at the end of the 11 match was probably was a tough
Enough match for a while but like AOG seven points down Boton last five points down came back to draw you know Kagan nine down and a man down tiny six down it’s it’s near enough to stuff of Legends now if you can get over the line
If you can get over the line on Sunday I think Netflix or some that will be looking for you yeah well they haven’t their heart Spirits been fantastic all year you know and we’ve worked on it from the start of the year the character it’s a big part of supposed R new teams
In the past and uh even the young fellas and these young fellas have come up the ranks uh the past players have always had that and they’ve kind of tooken on board themselves and you know uh the way thingsam has pned out this year has been very competitive championship and a lot
Of games could have went either way and uh we’re tough to be in the final anyway at suay so hopefully they let do well yeah and I suppose Dar people kind of forget your league champions as well you know that’s you know you’ve been very consistent all through the year and
You’re bringing that right into October now which is which is huge going forward and I suppose taking a quick look at what’s F it’s a very good blessington team you know champions from two years ago they’re no shrinking violence they’re you know physical they’re good big strong team and and you know Sunday
Is going to be a real battle yeah look we’re under no Illusions either what we’re facing him um we are underdogs as suppose for a reason for the last you know two or three years they’ve definitely been one of the best teams in the county county
Champions from two years ago H the four five maybe six County players on it so we’re under no Illusions but like gads are coming to try and enjoy the day um try and give it their best and try and get a performance out of them is is the
Thing and see where it takes us that’s that’s our aim anyway so hopefully it goes well for them yeah and I suppose from from your own point of view with with the whole say hope you know it’s a new management team it’s probably new ground for yourselves as well and you’re probably
As as suppos feeling your way into it I know you’re very experienced slids yourselves from County finals and everything else but the management thing probably brings a little bit of a different view to it yeah it’s totally different uh to um playing anyway um you know Mark and
Nikki been great to me and the whole management team all the way between you know Ron and and lighton and and everybody don’t want to start naming names or miss out of you and but it’s been a big team effort all the way through and we’ve tried to work on the
Lads all the way and trying to help them and get them to enjoy their football you know football is a sport at the end of the day and even though there’s a big commitment involved they have to enjoy it and that’s what we tried to focus on
All year get back enjoying it and uh they’ve done that you know what I mean so hopefully they enjoy Sunday as much as they can and please God they go well for them anyway you know yeah and look I suppose but one thing you have to say is they are
Enjoying it we’re certainly enjoying it looking at them as well they’re they real value for money from a neutrals point of view um thanks a million Dar for taking your time out as I said it’s a busy week and and the very best of LU on Sunday I hope everything goes well
For you glad H thanks very much am I much appreciated right thanks very much so finish just control that a little bit right okay [Applause] Uh I’m here today with uh blessington manager Brian Cardiff Brian thanks a million for taking your time on such a busy week in the lead up to the final uh great to be back here for blessing the ni ball hasn’t been an easy track through uh good start to your campaign
With two wins and little bit Rocky then I suppose and a draw we haven’t D seen you through but the real stand out for me is the last two performances from displacing the team against uh last year’s champions in particular but the last day against over most people’s
Favorites for the championship a really strong arle jerse team you showed real grit and great football to get through that one yeah look as as you say it hasn’t been hasn’t been playing sailing at all and the first two games with a good start against Bray followed up with
A good performance against oner um fell a bit flat against AR the first day out and lost by five and they were they were full value for that um then Kagan caught his cold early with two goals we didn’t recover from it fully and lost by two there and something similar against
Avendale two goals conceded early in the game and kind of we were just uh climbing the mountain after that thankfully we we scraped out a draw there and it was enough to get us to get us out of the group stages into the into the quarterfinals um yeah and then probably
Coming into the quarterfinal um we a week a weekend between the the the group and the quarterfinal we kind of got a couple of sessions in that weekend just kind of reset the reset the group and kind of took the approach that we’re as far on as we can be you know regardless
Of how the group games went we we could only be at the quarterfinal stage at that point and uh to be honest getting getting Sam PS in the quarterfinal was probably the perfect draw to to to focus the minds because uh who better to draw the best out you than the the current
County Champions and thankfully look we got a performance that day we got over the line by a couple of points and it kind of it did a lot for the the morale in the group yeah and as we said you know the last day against the Jers was
It particularly for me was a real standout performance you know you you have a team littered with leaders you have a good blend of you experience there you know probably shook the monkey after back a little bit two years ago by winning that championship and back in the final again I suppose looking
Forward you know we were just speaking before this you know rat newer coming down the line we’ve seen all year with this rat new team I suppose what they can do from almost anywhere from any position you know they’re never gone they’re never dead they’re never buried but you know I
Suppose your legs just have to go out and you know keep in front play our game and and not worry about right new and get get down to the last few minutes in this final and and have the game in your own hands yeah ENT as you say two years
Ago the the bul of these Lads won a championship for the first first time in in 38 years which is a huge thing for not just the playing group but the the club as a whole like you know so maybe maybe took a bit of the the monkey off
The back um and and I’m hoping that that experience along with like a lot of these L lost the county Final in 2017 as well sort of experience of playing in County finals and coming out on on both the good side and the the bad side of it
So we’re hoping that that’ll stand to them going into Sunday but uh yeah to the point on on rat new like we’re we’re essentially facing the team that are never beaten like you know and uh we we have to be fully conscious of that and
And we’ll have to draw on all that the the leaderships across the leadership across all lines of the field that you just described like to kind of try manage out the game as best we can and uh yeah like look if we if we take our
Eyes off these Lads for a second it could be fatal so that’s that’s the big challenge that’s facing us this week now yeah and look as supp we alluded to it as well at the buildup you know it’s just a great time of the year to be still involved finals there’s buildup
There’s a buzz around you know the kids are wearing the jerseys everything you know for yourself coming in as a manager here as well you know it must be huge to to get a team here and now to just to push the final push for that last hour
On Sunday as you said hopefully just to to put the final final touches on it yeah 100% like obviously it’s my first year with with the lads here in blessington but uh I suppose coming into a group that was kind of after winning a championship in the previous two years
The the the ambition and the standards were set fairly high so it was kind of I won’t say it was easy to come into it but they were kind of a very easy group to work with from the start because because of that kind of hunger within
The group and then like winning it two years ago falling short last year maybe feeling that they underperformed in the quarterfinal last year just just brought a bit of hunger back into the lads for this year like you know so thankfully we’ve been able to manage our way and
Channel that hunger to to get us to where we are but to that point uh yeah the the buzz around the place is great and the town the club all that sort of stuff but uh the challenge now is just kind of keeping the focus on one more

Again thanks for joining me Podge there’s perfect conditions here in Aram a huge crowd after turning out and don’t let the the stand at The Far Side fol you this Bank underneath here is packed the capacity we’ve had to close the gates because uh of the crowds of cars
Coming in the car park is full it’s a real uh Testament to both clubs that way have turned out here pod and this has all the making of a cracking game we had a real I suppose crazy finish yesterday to the intermediate football finds the only way to explain it you know anura
Looked like they they snook the game really and barar came and took it back in the D minutes there was all sorts of things happened we had cards we had penalties we everything you’d want from a game I think this one has gone to l up
Pretty much the same yeah and it could like don’t be surprised if we have a crazy finish to this one as well particularly if say we find right new were maybe three or four points down coming into injury time and they start bombing balls in on the edge of the
Square and anything can happen then we’ve seen it happen on numerous occasions even this year alone like we we talk about coming back against theog I think they were six points down came back against kilan nine points down playing against four or play him at 14
Men and same then against H Healey five or six down at halftime you know so you can never rule out right now I think blesson will want to get if Besson get on top they’ll want to keep going and going and going and and try and build up
A lead if they can yeah and I suppose look we’ve we’ve we’ve been given a few changes already I think there’s another one or two under that new team to what we’ve been given according to the weather lining up behind the band you know it’s been it’s been a crazy couple
Of weeks as supp for if you’re a rat new supporter blessington had their bit of a a blip in the middle of their uh championships they have two losses in the middle of the draw then we have D but they’ve come really strong with wins
Against Pats and AR Jers as we said you know rat have found our way here they find their way into finals and they find ways in finals so blessing will have to be under toes buts the matchups for me is going to be really intriguing here we could have some great battles Jamie
Snell Kevin Quinn you know all over the field Tio Smith maybe Dan Cooney or Craig McGuire picking him up all like all over the field here there’s matchups that are really really intriguing yeah and no right knew like they won’t worry too much about who they’re marking and that’s what they’re always they’re
Always like that they trust their Defenders to do a job for them you know and every one of them wants the big job you know so they won’t mind who’s marking H Kevin Quinn or Anthony mcland let whoever whoever ends up on them ends up on them and things like that I’d say

Atmosphere is electric here at the moment so it is electric is indeed it’s it’s probably the best atmosphere I’ve seen Hy County final for years and years the blessington lad just going to line up for Iran the the the rat new Lads the same just all their kids that were in
