Hey went in that’s the second One we’re out here at Scottdale National thanks to pxg for hooking us up with this place and letting us film here awesome time using the pxg wedge today and I’m going to show you and give you a feeling so you can actually use the bounce I always say use the bounce but

I’m going give you a specific way to feel so that you can hit these tough little shots with more confidence than ever before in your life no longer are you going to fear short game shots you’re going to look forward to them let’s get started all

Right so I I have 10° of Bounce here on this wedge and the bounce is not the Leading Edge it’s the degree of which the sole comes below the leading EDS Edge that’s the bounce here and this is what we want to be hitting the ground

The bounce so let’s get you fixed up okay so first off on any of these short game shots I do not want you to be backing that ball up here once you start doing that we start losing the ability to use the bounce so I really want it

More off the center or even forward of the center here this is where I want it like I put it kind of on my left foot but my feet are really narrow as well so narrow stance ball forward weight forward here you go hands not forward

And I’m going to open that face a little bit when we open that face a little bit we’re taking that 10° balance making it like 12 and it just makes it a little easier to use okay and this is kind of our basic setup and I’m going to keep my

Weight on this front foot throughout the entire swing so notice my weight doesn’t go back and forward it stays forward the whole time so now comes the feeling part this is what I want you to practice think about you are with your right hand skipping a rock across the water like

That’s the motion we really want this right hand to feel like you’re doing this through impact right at the Ball so practice with one hand just feeling that almost like the club comes down and you’re opening the face like this like that that’s the feeling I want as you come down I want you to feel it right in here and that’s going to be your little

Feeling take a few practice swings like that just here and as you do that what you’ll see and start to feel is you’re skipping the bounce off the ground like that with that little Motion it’s almost as if you’re opening the face through impact you won’t be but that’s the feeling you’re going to have so then with two hands I’m getting here and I’m just feeling that right hand doing that same move right as I accelerate through the ball and skip that rock

And that ball should be having a lot of spin on it he it went in we made it we spun it in so as you start feeling this motion here that skip the rock move what you’ll be able to do is start developing more and more touch and feel with your

Game around the green wow are you kidding that’s a second one so with that motion you can really start to control even the height of the ball you’ll feel it in your hands these little shots the more you throw the Bounce Down the higher the ball goes the more you throw

The bounce forward the lower the ball will go so everything is being controlled for me with this right hand motion right through impact Throw It Forward throw it down throw it out you’ll be able to play around with these and really start to love these little 40

Yers and the key nevero thing is this is yank hard with your left hand that’s the biggest mistake right here is you get these short shots and You Yank It left hand and you get that handle way ahead of the club head and all kinds of disaster happens what we’re trying to do

Is get the head moving forward that’s all controlled with your right hand so just don’t ever yank it that’s why I want the right hand is going to push that head through the turf more that’s one way to start feeling using the bounce cuz the bounce

Is what you need for a great success thanks for watching love you guys good luck out there see you next time

  1. Thanks Matt for this great video.
will this work as well with a sand wedge 56?
    I dont have a 60.
noticed the guy throwing the rocks goes quickly from supination to pronation in follow thru,is this what creates the spin of ball as well?
    thanks
    John

  2. Being very new to the game, I can’t thank you enough for all your videos! I finished classes this past October through PGA Hope for Veterans. Being that I finished the end of October the weather here in Oklahoma hasn’t been conducive for practice 😢
I look forward not only to spring but more of your content. Thank you so much for your efforts! God bless 🙏

  3. I also noticed that you're right. Shoulder stays a little more aligned with your left shoulder.
