Um in one of the the last plays of the games there just white jerseys everywhere that would uh give you huge optimism for for um what can be achieved this season so yeah it’s a sticky patch no doubt about a very difficult patch but I think anyone who’s been in sport a

Long time appreciates that that that’s what happens you go through cycles and um you mean as you say we can’t even think about a Leicester game because with the top 14 how competitive it is it’s straight into we got home what Monday lunchtime gave them Tuesday off uh you

Train walk through Wednesday good session yesterday today off basically because you’re traveling even though obviously it isn’t off and then you play tomorrow night and then the next game the following Saturday is to lose then you’re way to PO who are going well so you mean it’s just brilliant and the

Fact that it’s big game after big game but you need your squad and we’ve had more injuries than usual we’ve had obviously matus a in the backr Greg aldrid on kind of on on leave uh so you’re asking a lot of the same heads to

To do a lot of the work which is difficult especially in the back R so these guys will need a break soon as well so Squad rotation management of players mindfulness of players is top priority at the minute when you say just that last point then when you take that

Partnership what you said earlier on that you know we’re all a bit off including the coaches I mean I guess the Temptation is to go we get those Lads back we’re over the line quite easily but um have you other Reflections on where you’re off um yeah maybe you know it’s always

Interesting as their capacity as a player you know to how how much information they can take in I think I’m probably asking too much you know I think I need to simplify it and I think that’s a skill in itself just maybe we probably looking to

Be um maybe play an all expensive game in December it isn’t the right time it was in a South Africa it wasn’t against lster but there’s a skill in terms of the game management about what a game plan within a game plan do you do you

Select and what players do you play and why do you play them so I think I can offer more than that and just can’t assume that the the nine and 10 understand that because that’s a big error just in assuming that people think the same as so you need confirmation

With that you need to get around to people have more coffee time have more discussion time so little things like that I think fill the halfbacks with confidence and then um you know the the capacity to be able to find something that works and keep playing it while a lot of players

Feel like if they do something well then they move on to the next play but I’m of the I’m of the opinion that if you find that it works keep playing it keep playing it because defenses aren’t that good even as good as they think they are

That they’re able to adapt life to find the solution to something that they’ve just been picked apart with so uh within that we’ve had a few times where we’ve got the picture we wanted but we haven’t pulled the trigger on the picture that that has been delivered to us we’ve kind

Of uh haven’t seen it in the light but I think of the viewed if you keep knocking on the door the door will open because keep presting your team with good pictures and and they and they will see the the the good one eventually do you Find Ronin that you learn more about

Your players from defeat or from a couple of defeats in a row than you would have maybe from it me I know them very well at the minut but like even watching watching certain players and how they react to to adversity must be quite interesting because I’m sure some react better than

Be uh consistent in your behaviors we have all weak points and you mean there’s times this week where I’ve probably uh reacted poorly once or twice and that’s something I need to get better at because um you just because of pass doesn’t go where it’s meant to go it’s

Not really um a good reason to throw the toys out the PR but um as you say it’s in these times now that you find out more about yourselves you find out more about teammates uh but the competitor inside you would kind of go well we don’t actually need the stress you know

Are we inviting this on ourselves because uh we’re not doing a little bit more on on our kind of individual day to get better or is it related to a greasy ball I don’t think so or is it related to maybe just not having enough repetition done when you say you might

Number of weeks you’d imagine they’ll have a full strength team does does it annoy you or other managers I’d imagine as well when teams put out a second string in one game and and do you understand no I have no no annoyance no sentiment towards anything we’ve won two European cups in

The last two years you can not believe how good that is I realized the tiny tiny percent tile I in in the whole world of sport so for me there are so much things to be grateful for that you have no idea that day last May and in

With my own Squad it is of no concern I have no control I have no influence on what they do why they do it or and I’m not really too bothered about that you know it’s the same about an opposition a referee the weather it is of no

Consequence it is so difficult with a 20 M man staff and a 45 whatever playing group to have even half them near their opum that the buzz from that uh exceeds anything what uh you may feel about what opposition are doing it’s it’s genuinely Shane it doesn’t uh comeing even on my

Radar and they also like uh layed it into lster for 40 good minutes and uh I know Alex Anderson was definitely trading off the a headline in one of the papers that they were toothless sharks are going to be uh undone by LST or whatever so they obviously traded a bit

On that and I know it came apart I would say to be fair it wasn’t ler who said that you know no exactly yeah yeah yeah roro Conor is a lot to answer for is what we’re saying no well who well yeah well if someone said they’re two CL

Sharks from the squad maybe yeah they have a right to utilize that but I don’t I would be surprised if that was the language used yeah um last one on that a stressful time for you like or what because I know you’re saying obviously you’ve done some stuff that

Saying otherwise that you mean you don’t get every week right and you don’t get it perfect every week but you try and give yourself the best chance but at the same time you’re always looking to to be better obviously um and I suppose the most important thing which is evident in

An environment I ass so what I hope is that we care for each other and there’s good boys here and there’s good coaches here but uh when it isn’t working where you’d like genuinely you do get a little bit frustrated but it doesn’t serve any purpose you have to park that and you

Have to go yeah this isn’t working great at the minute but I’m confident that we’re not too far away from it but with that confidence you need confirmation and you need to train a little bit better and once you’re training well then you can hopefully make a transfer but there I’ve been environments

Sometimes where you work with people and it isn’t right Monday it isn’t right Tuesday it isn’t right Thursday and you’re kind of gone in your head well how does he expect it to be good on the Saturday if it’s not good during the week so I’ve seen it here when it’s

Humming uh we aren’t humming we uh am I concerned by that I not know but at the same time uh you can always go well it’ll be all right next week and that’s just a little bit of the of the danger of Life sport but

Sometimes as we know in this game uh you don’t find a solution and you don’t get what you want out of it but I think when you’re spot like I have been in the my R here it’s it’s it’s something well worth uh going after and trying to find out

Bank you know what I mean that doesn’t interest me one bit what what I do is I stay in the now and we either get better or we don’t so it’s very simple really try and and make players get better if players don’t get better you’re not

Doing your job if the result doesn’t go your way tomorrow night what’s Christmas like in the Yara household it’s same as the last 14 weeks here I think it’s good because I hear the kids I think the kids are talking in COD now there’s sometimes there’s a bit they’ve got a language

Ler game on Steven’s day or is that um yeah I will yeah yeah I hadn’t thought about that but most definitely yeah we I think we’re we’re off in the 27th yet so um yeah that’ be it’s great you know obviously uh monster in a similar situation to ourselves uh with a draw

And a defeat exitor for a game where they could have run so they were frustrated but I like what’s going on there I think they’re not far away from turning a corner so um we can’t to see them obviously progress all season because there’s a lot of guys there I like does

Feel that way uh big time for them at the minute um one last one before we let you away obviously you’ve Spoken Here at length previously about your admiration for Andrew Goodman and um who knows sort of how the timeline of this thing worked but he’s going to take over from my cat

When the season is done good coup for the irfu yeah yeah good yeah um yeah brilliant guy and a supremely good coach um worked with him obviously uh I think people underestimate too he was a head coach of Tasman I think who won the NPC

At the time uh so you know it’s not as he has a bit of a global vision as well and he understands how he can help the boss man in that regard he is all the uh IP of of the Crusaders you know which was the most dominant team in

Sport sport people sometimes uh this side look at lster but it’s the Crusaders who are the most dominant team in the last 10 years in sport it’s it’s uh they won six P you know so there’s something uh very very unique and special to be able to do that and have

To do some commentary and then uh yeah and then when National TV and Sky come knocking yeah it was it was a a good boost when you say you fell off a cliff like that um I think everyone remembers that went over Danny ner the darts fans

Uh in in the Premier League unbelievable in 2020 what you did you’d of course been a three-time b CH world champion before that um like what what happened thereafter CU I know you’re still doing a bit of coaching I’m sure you still play a little bit but um what was that

That period that interim period since then been like it it really difficult I was losing 60 61 to players i’ I’d beaten regular and uh you know for people listening now I mean it’s a bit like a golfer who loses his swing a bit

Like a a putter who gets the Yips uh a boxer just being punch shy um all of a sudden my rhythm I started overthinking everything and you know the game of Dart is pretty simple uh but you can make it really difficult and uh yeah a lot of

Demons sort of come into uh my mind when I was thrown a dart and uh yeah but but no complaints I’m a big believer in fate you know had some incredible successes the the highs in doubt honestly I can’t even begin to tell you how them guys are

Feeling uh and you’ve got to accept the laws in life and uh I’m really proud the way I dealt with the situation and moved on and this is Glen Durham version 2.0 absolutely the the professionalism of the sport as well even you know compared to 20 30 years ago is quite

Something like do you look at Players now and think well there there’s no wonder the prize money has gone up to to what it is because players are are fitter than they were it’s no longer the the boozy sport that it used to be yeah

Happening um during that period yeah I’ve got no problems at all talking about I think it’s really important to self-reflect as well so when I was winning the Lakeside titles I’m sure you both picked up a dart and threw a dart the only thing I could see was the

Treble 20 or the target I was aiming for the game fell very simple uh and I remember playing go in price in a pro tour uh and I stood there and I went a BCD and he beat me 6 nil in seven minutes and I was like what on Earth has

Happened to me I just started overthinking everything and and the night I won the Premier League I was in just in the middle of having my issues as well so only the fact that Gary Anderson decided to use these brand new darts that didn’t suit him and I won the

Semi-final with an 87 average which Gary would demolish normally so someone was definitely looking down and then in the final against Nathan aspiral I found the old you know the old Dozer and you know just putting my probably my last decent game I never ever really uh played well

After that Premier League final so I just made the game very difficult and D is a spot which has got to be full of Rhythm you’ve got to be out there and be very free and I was strong I was tense I was Tau I was tight and I was

Overthinking everything and it wasn’t pleasant but I had a lot of sponsors on my chest on my Dart shirt and I couldn’t let them down when in reality maybe three or four months away from the game and uh might have worked but um like you

Said it’s it is what it is there’s no crying for me for sure you know like I said I’m only one of seven people whoever picked up that Premier League trophy and uh had to snapped your hands off 10 years ago do you get the benefit of of sports psychologists as well let

Even at that period it’s the only thing I didn’t take up I mean the problem the reason I went into coaching is I want to help people who have the same problems that I had and I I believed I was uh doing everything right so in a sense of

A little demonstration at you know I could throw the dart and I had what’s called a micro pullback so I I I didn’t pull me arm back too far you’ll see some D players like Joe cullin will bring the dart right back to the face um and I

Just had this uh thing when I stood there and I thought in my mind I was bringing the D back but in reality I was thrown so badly for 12 months that of course when I went into match conditions that was going to be exactly the same I

Was thinking well if I had a coach behind me I think they’ have realized in the very infancy I was doing something wrong with me we throw and it could have been corrected um so but stubborn people dark players and I just believed I was

Doing the right thing and I saw it as a weakness to see a psychologist but looking back I think that’s one regret um the the tournament so far this year Glenn has been has been incredible I guess that the story of it has been Luke

Ller this uh 16year old I still am un sure if he’s really 16 judging by the photograph judging by the the way he looks but In fairness to him he’s been unbelievable and again last night uh to be Andrew gilding who’s UK open champion no mean feet but this kid’s incredible

Isn’t he he’s absolutely Sensational I mean I read a tweet where he said if this guy’s 16 he looks like a lad who’s 30 with four kids and drives a seven seat to safira he is honestly he’s a generational player um when I first started Dart I went to uh the Norway

Open and I seen this 16y old Michael Vann uh you know and before that Phil Taylor and before that Eric Bristol he really is that good and every question that’s been asked of him so far he’s had the answers I was really proud of him last night because I’ve all I’ve Al you

Know we’ve seen the 110 average from him this incredible Freedom that he plays with but to be a great D player you’ve got to be quite versatile as well and when you’re playing Andrew gilding because of the pace you’ve got to have a b game and he demonstrated that last

Night because he he was second best in a lot of that game last night but come through it and uh and I think that’s a really good sign for him even as you say in his first round match he had such a high average almost in some ways his

Second round win was more impressive in in that you know he goes two nil up and then he he gets back to 2-1 and he and he doesn’t panic that in some ways I suppose Glenn that was more impressive for me for me I mean my nickname was

Boring boring doer for years because I was I was the guy who could win really tight matches and he’s demonstrated in the in the junior ranks and in a competition called the M Super Series that he’s got this flamboyant game this incredible averages and like I said you

You need that b game you need to win ugly sometimes and I thought last night was just as impressive as the opening night I saw the uh the PDC U I don’t know if they’re getting a little bit carried away but they they posted his potential route to the title Luke ller

Uh in a graphic last night so it would it would be potentially Matt Campbell third round van barnel fourth round Gerwin price in a quarter Michael Smith in a semi and and Van Gerwin in in a final is are we getting a little bit ahead of ourselves or can sometimes

Momentum just take over oh why not let’s let’s do it I mean that’s what this Sport’s all about we’re getting we’re getting headlines again like Fallen Sher when she was winning and you know as a someone who sort of behind the scenes of darts let’s embrace the moment and let’s

Mickey Manel and to see him play uh well yesterday against zong from China uh I thought he looked good and the the problem will be I think he’d rather play Michael vanwin next round than plays best May Brendan Doran uh I mentioned earlier the guy that big pet right Jim

Williams my best friend I played him at the lakeside and it was the most incredibly difficult game um but it’s business up there I mean the winner of that game gets 25 Grand so I think you put friendship aside and I think they both experienced enough to to put a

But here we we are I am in Saudi Arabia about to watch Manchester City this evening in the club World Cup final but obviously with a big eye on what happens in the uh Premier League over the weekend and I spent yesterday talking about the European court of justice

Which is not necessarily something I do on a daily basis but may well be for the next few years um given where you are I’m uh I’m going to fully come clean here and say the club World Cup final came up for discussion in our pre uh

Show meeting and we all concluded that nobody really cares about about it let’s not bother asking Martin about it but uh we I think none of us realize where you were is there much of a fuss about it there what it is here uh there’s a load

Of Brazilian fans as they always are and I remember going to Yokohama with Chelsea in in 2013 when they lost to Corinthians and there were 35,000 flew in from s Paulo for the game now there’s not that many here from Rio for flumin but there’s quite a few and as I went

Around the Old Town the other night there were lot quite a lot of Brazilian fans and and no City fans in true um European teams don’t take it seriously and that’s one of the reasons I think why FIFA want to launch or going to launch this expanded uh 32 team

Tournament they want to get the European clubs invested in it because then the TV rights are worth more and and that’s where it would go I actually think that the expanded Club World Cup will be a huge tournament there’s no question of that in my mind uh because you’re going

To have arguably the best tournament football played on the planet better than um the World Cup because the quality of the change is going to be higher let’s go with that uh topic then and sort of recap maybe for people to come to a little bit cold the European

Super League uh is back obviously on the table a league system 64 men’s teams 32 women’s teams from across Europe uh rival clearly current um rival to current European competitions UEFA saying Martin football is not for sale as their response to this You’ had several leagues the Premier League

Included coming out saying that they continue to support UFA competitions Manchester United saying saying they’re fully committed to UF for competition Bayern Munich said the door remains closed to the super league and it all follows that European court of justice uh uh ruling Banning clubs from joining

The league uh saying that that was unlawful so where does this leave the whole thing I think that’s kind of the question that people are asking themselves this morning I think it’s the end of UEFA as the important factor in European Club competitions they’ll still have a role

But I think that will be subsumed by in the end I Su SP the European Club association the big clubs so not I don’t think this a22 Real Madrid Barcelona model but a club run competition regulated by UEFA in much the same way as the Premier League is a club run

Competition with rules and regulations and officials and discipline run by the Football Association uh I think that’s the direction of of travel the clubs can now go to UF and say Well we’d rather work with you but on our terms and if you don’t agree um with what we propose

There’s nothing you can do about it you can’t stop us so that threat I think will allow the clubs to to to use their power to get what they want I don’t think it will be a huge differential from the current or the new Champions League model because they drafted it but

It might be slightly different it might be smaller leagues in the top tier Etc um because I’m not sure that people will understand this Swiss system of playing eight games and having a final table in a 36 Team league whereas if you have maybe four leagues of nine or 10 at the

Top tier and then numbers go through to the the LA to The Knockout phase that is more understandable I think um for the fans at home and the clubs and you get probably better games uh that way you have two or three decent games guaranteed in the uh in the group phase

Uh but clearly uefa’s power to re to to run the game at a club level in particular uh has been diminished by this ruling despite the bravado we saw from the likes of uh Alexander sephine yesterday and I think the happiest man of the lot would have been nassa Al

Khalifi the the head of the ECA is also the president of of PSG he’ll be the one calling the shots speaking of which uh quote from him yesterday the of the European Club association do your own competition it is fine but the best club competition in

The world is the Champions League my uh my personal favorite bit from the quote moves on the brand has existed for years and years the music in itself is a brand which music I love the music’s when I read that Martin I’m I’m fast forwarding to 10 years time where that gets josed

That clip gets josed alongside you know the um the latest greatest final for the new Super League well I I I don’t think that the super league as it’s proposed either in its initial iteration or this latest form will will fly if you look at what a22 put up yesterday you still have

A basically a self-perpetuating elite so if for example in year two of the new iteration Leicester win the Premier League their reward is a placing effectively the conference League that’s not acceptable to supporters who would determine uh who goes into the initial uh competition and what level

They can’t say um if you’re if you’re Manchester United for example you have a terrible season you win three games out of 14 finished ninth in your league in your super league league as it were in your uh gold league I think they called it I lose track of gold and stars and

Blues and city names the top tier and finished 10th in the Premier League you’d still be in the European top tier the following year that’s a nonsense and people won’t accept it it isn’t promotion and relegation in as we understand it it’s it’s an unacceptable I think uh proposal for the

People who care the fans who care and also it means that the national associations won’t Ascend now in in the UK outside brexit outside the EU post brexit so therefore not by definition Bound by ecj rulings uh although I think the eventual antp homegrown player ruling will become part of of premier

League rules but that’s a different issue um the regulator being set up by government will have the power to ban clubs from playing in an unsanctioned competition the fa cannot sanction a competition which doesn’t allow for free and fair access on Merit so unless they can completely redraft this proposal

There’ll be no English teams in it um with no English teams who’s going to pay for it you know this idea that they’ll be free to a streamer by some new streaming company I don’t think that flies I don’t think that’s valid these clubs want to be paid who’s going to pay

Them the money the money comes from TV audience if you’ve got free streaming there’s no there’s no money from TV audience it doesn’t work does it no definitely not like burn Reichard yesterday from that a22 organization which first put forward this proposal Martin he was saying yesterday fans and

Clubs can be convinced to back these new proposals do you think do you think he’s right do you think fans football fans have short-term memories that uh the whole Saga and Gary Neville speech and everything that happened a few years ago will be forgotten I don’t think fans in England

Or Germany can be convinced but they’re different to the fans perhaps certain to the fans of Real Madrid and Barcelona they’re different to some to fans elsewhere that was you know they’ve been various surveys uh at the time and since which suggests that there’s a different mentality in other parts of Europe but

As I said I think without the English clubs the validity of the competition is in question this is all about in the end some of these Continental clubs wanting to close the gap with the Premier League because they they recognize that there aren’t any other traditional methods by

Which they can that the the Premier League is so B away the most lucrative comp competition for a variety of reasons not the least being that it’s played in English actually and it has a wider um breth of of of coverage and and understanding than any of the others who

Who come from countries of different languages um they can’t C they can’t close the gap so this is a way of trying to create something that closes the Gap but without the English teams there won’t be the same interest there won’t be the TV money so it’s it’s difficult

And I think obviously what’s going on in Australia and the the the fundamental functioning of of the whole system there um they’re probably having a a big review of that and there’s a lot of uh you know you pe speak to ex Australians and stuff at the at the

World Cup and they’re all talking about you know changing this changing that Super Rugby is is not working for him and lots of different things but um the only question is will they bring in an outsider um a New Zealander again they did so with Dave reny and I thought I

Was very surprised he had a couple of bad bad one of results for sure but a lot of injuries and um whether they’ll bring in someone New Zealand or again there obvious Robie Dean did as well yeah yeah so they’ve done it a couple of times um historically it’s not the done thing

There but someone like Joe his caliber he quality of international experience um and he’s out of the the all black setup obviously now so um yeah I think it’s kind of pointing that way he’s certainly the front runner for the job and that’s what what a lot of the

Australian papers are reporting do you keep contact with him still uh briefly yeah I would a few texts here and there um obviously I met him at the World Cup um his Irish citizenship I was pushing to get that revoked after what he uh uh after the

The will Jordan try I think that was Joe schmith all over in that New Zealand game but no I would he’s his um family are still living in Dublin the kids and um I met his his wife around that time Kelly as well um she was obviously back

In Ireland around that time so um yeah it’s it’s it’s it’s it’d be great opportunity again it’s obviously his decision if he was offered a job I don’t know if he’s even interested it so I wouldn’t he’s probably a perfect fit as a coach is the stuff that we’ve

Reflected on over the last while that people I think have probably like um revised history a little bit in terms of what we succeeded over that time and maybe we needed him at that stage but like given the tight structures that he tends to play and that’s the thing you

You mentioned the word structure if you’re talking about going underneath the playing group if you like and go peeling things back and looking at the system looking at the players coming through Pathways all that kind of you think he’d be a perfect type of a person for that role yeah obviously

He on field experience and and qualities of coaching and um you know what he did with lenser in Ireland was really impressive but I think he obviously that’s the structural stuff that they seem to be it seems to be cropping up all the time with Australian rugby uh

Because they have a lot of athletes a lot of good players and a lot of quality um I think he for me he would be a perfect fit as regards um and I think for David Nur back there I think um again that’s a real coup for them

Because he’s been in the system here with um not too dissimilar because they’ve um you know the Super Rugby franchises and the kind of they’re scattered around there was five is it four now the bromes the Reds Queensland Reds um the rebels maybe 2 three and g

And uh they must have four what’s the other one the bromes the Reds waras yeah yeah that’s it there four um there was five with the force before um um it’s obviously their World Cup was disastrous and there’s a lot of Rumblings about uh Sy systematic errors

And and lots of problems with Australian rugby so the challenges with aie rules Cricket all that kind of stuff um rugby league um but yeah I think it’d be lovely to see Joe go back into um long as come back to haunt us again what what

Just on the new 4 one as we obviously won’t be playing them in the intervening months Australia but the timing of it is unusual no in that like he’ll be going back in his advisory role in March and staying with us until July a little bit Yeah and obviously um this wouldn’t sit

Well with people if David Humphries wasn’t on board you know if it was coming to a point where David N for’s successor would be announced after he departs MH but I think it’s a kind that’s and it’s probably a reward and a kind of from his

Employers which are the are of you to say look we’re not going to stop you doing this their time frame is pretty um I think it’s by March they need to have s their their plan is to have a successor and a lot of structural announcements and changes that they want

To make in Australian rugby so I think um for him coming on board then for a couple of months while still in situe here wouldn’t happen or wouldn’t be allowed unless David David Humphries was was actually on board so I can understand it a little bit some people

Will raise a few eyebrows and say you know he doesn’t finish up till after the the Olympics um like can I just put it out there that it obviously would have come up in the room how about we just part ways now or part ways in March so

David humph I think I read somewhere a few weeks ago is coming in sometime in the new year to start the Handover whatever it is like not even the US president does that length of a Handover do you know what I mean like three months should be job I think but like no

Matter what you’re doing ultimately you’re going to have to cut the at some point let them off for sure for sure just let let them away yeah probably if it’s the reward bit like but there’s not an immediate need to do that do you know

What I mean in the sense that I think for David Humphries um you know he needs to understand he needs to find his own way as well but there’s obviously ways of of of putting the whole managing the whole structure right down to the underage game the women’s game the sevens women’s sevens

Women’s men’s game there’s a lot of kind of elements to all that uh being the performance director so I think he’s probably um it’s not an issue for me I think again if David Humphries wasn’t on board yes I’d be saying this is not not does not right but I would imagine that

David Humphries will be number one and David noora is kind of will be sitting in the background to guide and help and support him um but he’ll have to find his own way as well so they could cut ties but look I think David deserves to to go out in his own

Terms when he wants it’s not like stage David Moyes Alex fergon but it’s also hard for David Humphrey to find his own way when your man is sitting over his shoulder in any job yeah but ultimately he’s the boss now David Humphries um as regards he’s taking over the role I

Think it probably it doesn’t surprise me that you know it’s a big job and and and David noora essentially it’s been a it’s a job that was created and and there was not predecessors before him doing the job so there’s no kind of um nothing to

Look back on to say this is how it’s always been done he’s got to find his way but he’s also got to keep a little bit of continuity in the way the job um is is kind of rolled out with the provinces I would think the biggest job David Humphries has

Um and again it might sound a little bit um the other three provinces need help and support um because as much as they can to the obvious ones are monster olster and and conu because you feel lens are going to change gears again and and and move on and look lre need their

Own support as well and and it’s all part under the one umbrella but um all the provinces getting them as strong as possible the goals that they set to win six nations like it be% yeah it does it does um need help and support there’s been lots of structural changes around that I

I you could go into loads of different facts I think the system here is very good so it’s a and I think David Humphrey’s will do a really good job I think he’s very personable and popular um the Handover I think I you know look could work both ways you could cut ties

But I think that’s what happens though isn’t it you need to hand over period but but like so you go off come March you go to Australia get stuck into your gig we’ll set off half there’s a lot of digging then for David home to go well

How’s this done how’s that done what happens here once a week for an hour and a half we’ll set up you Dave you come with all your list of questions we’ll set up at this call for an hour and a half after two three weeks of doing that

Everybody’s M on life and ultimately he has got to use it be the we’re kind of debating something that for me it doesn’t really matter to me I’m not either way I’m not saying this should should happen or that should happen because I don’t think it affects the job

To put his own spin in it after that but this is kind of a structurally how this has worked for us as regards Pathways for younger players and working with the provinces you allude Ed uh fairly significantly to Andrew Goodman last week getting the gig and so he’s coming

In um as back backs coach for Ireland after my cat um again sort of think around July time uh three years up to an including the next World Cup there was some talk of him going in with Scott Robertson so again we talk about coups it feels like another coup for the rfu

To have locked this down I think so yeah look it’s it’s um the candidates uh who were the candidates for the job I think the obvious one that I was talking about last week was Mike pgas no McNamara would have been a candidate um Richie morphy with the

20s um but I think Andrew Goodman is right under doorstep and these kind of appointments people sometimes uh wonder how they happen is it down to doing a good interview it’s not is it down to Andrew Goodman’s experience or CV probably not because of course he was back’s coach

For the Crusade ERS in 2022 um would have worked for them with the Tasman maos in New Zealand it’s not as he’s a massive CV cuz he’s still quite young but comes with player recommendation okay all these jobs really well the for is picked up and

What’s he like yeah how good is he um how excited does he make the team all that kind of stuff Leo and Leo’s like yeah he’s okay I mean he’s okay no he’s not great no I’m not saying it’s entirely player recommendations but fair enough I think a lot of the time if

You’re employing someone as a coach if you get really good recommendations for current players yeah not ex players current players who say this guy is is the real deal um so I’m sure that would have happened and um yeah it it does feel like it’s a really good appointment

Um it’s a fairly easy transition he lives in Dublin he’s going to be based here um working with a lot of guys who he’s regularly coaching again um I know what happens the challenge for for for for for for the Ireland coaches is to to get more players available to them and

Bring them up to speed and bring young players into the Irish Squad as regards training and um you know develop them in in in in the other provinces as well because you know it’s well-renowned um the lenser system here is very good the school system and they’re producing more

Players in the other provinces um so yeah he’s going to be moving around working with the other provinces now and I think it’s it’s a really good appointment and um he for Mike penas to take the job wouldn’t have had the same you know he’s only in in Monster n mcnamar has moved

Around a little bit I’m missing any am I missing any candidates who could have been in the running for I don’t know I was thinking about the Jac Nar appointment and whether Goodman was in the running for that gig Post Lancaster and the pieces the jigsaw were decided

That once Nar came in will’ll at the end of this year we’ll move you over here so you’re not getting that gig but you get this gig over here I mean the net result of which means Johnny saon is coming in as the lster attack coach next year but

Yeah well I I think I I think it’d be great for Irish Rugby um to get possibility isn’t it I mean it out there but to get him into the system you know I would have does it matter though that he that he played so recently that he

Played with a lot of those ler players do he’s different for him I think because he would have been in that leadership role for a long time and practically um coach already kind of a player coach in a sense um you know like I’ve always said about Rogers like that I it never

Surprised me that he went straight into coaching again it’s down to Johnny seon himself does he want to go down that path I think he’s taking up employment at the moment but um you know it be as sham to lose him out of the game because I think it’s you know he’s probably

Would have huge amount to offer as regards his his experience and the way things are done so um yeah I think it’s a good appointment and um you know the Six Nations will be upon us before we know it I know Mike cat’s out uh you

Know he’s he’s out there to land end the South African Tour and I think he deserves a lot of credit Mike cat um you know there was a lot of criticism at the start and whether he’s entirely running the whole attack structure um I’m not entirely sure but

You know we had Ireland there was a lot of question marks at the start of both Andy far and himself and we ended up being be the best and and most attractive team to watch at International level so he did a great job we have three minutes left before

Yeah they lost um winning the first three and I think they had a great fight back against olster they were down a fair bit in the second half of that game and go had a great fight back to win the game yeah then they went to Edinburgh lost there brilliant win then South

Africa against the Sharks and since then it’s they’ve lost to the Bulls the lster game they had that game one hadn’t they you know they the game one they made too many mistakes um lost line outs play at the end and then ler yeah brilliant to

Win the game for all he tried at the end was heartbreaking for them and it seems they look fatigued in the last couple of weeks a little bit um obviously in Europe then Bordeaux kind of surprised everyone with their approach to that game in goway the first

Game in Europe and were brilliant and and then Saron last week they scored five tries but they were you know after starting the game really well I think they were 178 up after about 20 minutes after conceding an early try kayen blade and BND Yaki score so yeah really

Disappointing run for them um it it’s difficult place to go I think olster after their performance last week were they were on a run of losing three as well which was uh both sides were in kind of the doldrums if you like they were they lost Glasgow olster it away

Losing to Edinburgh at home was kind of a a real Hammer blow for them and then they were well beaten over and bat so last week and their inconsistency is there for everyone to see in the last couple of years so um conic witer and they knocked them out of

The URC and then knock out stages so they’ll they’ll believe um they they play well in Belfast so it’s a it’s it’s interesting to see if um if oler can back up that good performance against rassling last weekend with another performance and uh you know there’ll be
