  1. Very interesting. I have an older Odyssey Sabertooth that I like a lot. It has two dots on the top. I also hit an Odyssey Doublewide really well without markings on the blade. Humm…what if there were markings on the blade?

  2. FYI…I found the same thing on my putting. But, what I did was go to an automotive store and bought white pin strip tape. It works great and if you don't like it just peel it off. It also comes in red and black.

  3. Great video.
Many years ago I hurt my back and could not make a full swing at all. I could, however, putt and chip. For two weeks all I did was practice short pitches, chips and putting… concentrating on solid strikes and getting the ball moving on the correct starting line as best I could. Within a few days, I noticed I was improving a fair amount… even a great amount.
When my back allowed, I went out to play and hit poor drives and approaches, but… I would chip/pitch it up to tap in range or easily sink putts inside 10 feet. The front nine was two under par with two chip-ins for birdies and only two greens in regulation. I couldn't hit drives even 70% of my normal distance and approaches were two to four clubs longer into the greens. It was the easiest 9 holes ever!!! Virtually no fuss or pressure of making bogey.
    MrShortGame Golf has it right!

  4. The reason there is not a line on the top is that despite the lie angle of the club, players will vary and if they put a line on the top of the face, people would return the club when it doesn't line up (with the other line below it) for them.

  5. You should try the "Dot Putter"!! It is totally about alignment with a total of 8 dots…so if all 8 are aligned like a cross, you know your eyes are over the putterhead properly…you can see your line…and you just swing. Speed is all that remains…when you strike the sweet spot you get a really nice sound. Glad to send more info…was invented by a guy in Australia. Only $150!

  6. If you line the top dot up with the lower line the putter is flat.. If the top dot is toward you the toe was up. If the top.is forward of the line the toe is down.. It makes it strike more consistently.

  7. Makes sense. My 2 favorite putters I have r my Good Good and Custom Scotty I got redone. They both have a dot/line on the top and they r my favorite of the 12 I have

  8. I am sooo going to try this on my 15 year old Yes putter Ashley (the other love of my life ; don't tell the missus).

  9. Matt, I have a SC Newport 2, and was part of a Facebook group. One of the members SWORE by this, and drilled a small hole on top of the putter face, then used special paint to fill it in. I would be too nervous to do that myself, but I would imagine you could find a local club maker to do this (professionally)? I had an old blade putter with a dot on the top of the face and LOVED that feature!

  10. I did with this my Ping. I found that if my toe is raised or if my head is not properly over the ball, then the 2 lines don't line up. One will be outside of the other. When the club is flat and head positioned correctly the 2 lines are lined up as 1.

  11. have you considered that the dot helps you to get your eyes in better position by lining up the dot with the line? Eyes directly over the ball might be what is really happening?

  12. @MrShortGame Golf – do you use a line to align your ball to the hole? I feel like this would be most beneficial to people who do that.

  13. These putters have got to be the worst feeling and sounding putters I’ve used/hit. Sounds super cheap and just looks inexpensive in hand. People bought these off of hype just like J’s. So glad GG had them to test to save me the return process

  14. I check out my Putter and you were right it did not have a dot or a line on top so I put a line in on top and it has made a difference to my putting Thank you for pointing that out.

  15. This really works. The issue is the alignment aids on most putters assume your eyes are directly over the ball. Reality is few people do. If your eyes are back even an inch, then the alignment aids that don't go all the way to the face of the putter will then have you aiming on a different line.

  16. Hahahahaha! I was watching and was going to message you to ask if you’ve tried putting a black dot on one of the other putters. Then you did it! I’ll have to try it tomorrow. Good video!

  17. I'm not BS ing you as soon as I watched this, I did it to my.Taylormade Rossa. As a kid, my first ever putter, a Ben Hogan, had a dot on the top edge. Fingers crossed on my next outing. 🤞👌🤞

  18. there is no magic in this putter , alibaba has these exact putters at a fraction of the cost, can be customized to any spec . i don't buy this good good putter, marketing to suckers.

  19. Good tip Matt!
I play a load of old putters, most of them have no alignment mark at all. A while back I used to find the sweet spot on a putter I was about to use by tapping the face and then make a quick mark with a felt tip pen and it was great.
But for some reason I've stopped making that mark, I still find the sweet spot but rely in memory as to roughly where the sweet spot is.🤔
I'm going to start marking it again, why I might even drop a little spot of enamel paint there for a more permanent fix!

  20. @mrshortgame I'm going to try this on my Ping Anser putter which has no alignment marks. What do you suggest? Making the mark in the geometric center from one end of the putter to the other end? This would assume consistent mass from end-to-end.

  21. I guessed the Top line Dot and I was correct.

Colin Morikawa putts with a custom TP Hydroblast that has the centre line removed and has a circle dot added to the topline.

  22. Great point. This came up in the putter fitting i did earlier in the year….ive always prefered a blade with a top line or dot like you show in the video , wasnt sure if it just suits my eye and style …maybe its universal?

  23. Mr. Short Game, this video came at the right time for me. Been thinking about doing this to my putter and you convinced me. I took my Scotty Cameron Champions Choice Button Back and added a topline and WOW, does it work!!!! You have changed my putter for the better and I am soooo thankful for your tip. If you are ever in AZ, please HMU and I will take you golfing at my club. YOU ARE DA MAN!!!!! Thanks again I really do appreciate it. May you hit nothing but fairways and greens.

  24. I don'tcare if it putted for me and guaranteed 18 putts per round. I still wouldn't give any money to those clowns.
