Asics quietly released their take on the super spike for the tracks with the Metaspeed LD. Matt grabbed a pair to test out this pair and compare it to some super spikes released over the past couple of years.

  1. Interesting enough, the Metaspeed LD LE with the four removable spikes has a composite plate instead of a full carbon plate and it actually does have a bit of flex. You can run in them without the spikes in too for the same sort of setup.

The Puma distance super spikes seemed to have dropped recently as well along with the New Balance and Under Armor.

I think the Dragonfly is still my favorite ride-wise so far compare to the Avanti and LD LE, but the Matumbo hole in the Achilles seems to tear me up a little back there.

Love the mile race challenge for boba in your class lol.

  2. This looks like a classic road running shoe from the 80s and 90s !
Today that stack height is the lowest possible that no road runner would use that uncushioning for races.

  3. It sounds great on paper, I'm interested in how it works on foot. Working with that 25mm max stack, and there really is no need for actual metal spikes in a distance shoe with modern tracks.

  4. These just went on sale on running warehouse for $100, which is a steal I think, I just picked mine up thanks to this video
