  1. Yes, Meronk was definitely screwed here. Not sure why, a personality issue? that's all it can be! I think Donald looked at Aberg hitting it five miles and got an immediate 'hard on' and that was that. Hojgaard is very lucky in my view too. I think Rose was always going to be there. He won at Pebble Beach earlier in the year and he's a very popular team guy. Lowry is also a bit lucky. Hasn't really done much all year but kept popping up on leaderboards regularly enough for Donald to take notice. He's a loser from Wisconsin too so will have something to prove. Straka? jury is out on him too I think. If he's got some of Nikki Lauda's 'DNA' then great! He may need it

  2. I would have picked Meronk and left out Rose or Lowery. I know Rose won this year but can't see his putting standing up under pressure. Not sure that Lowery has performed well enough over the past year or 2. I also don't think Aberg was a surprise at all as there were plenty of rumours floating around the tours – Eddie Pepperell made some comments prior to the Aberg win

  3. i believe this european team may prove to be a solid one that will have a determined mind to revenge the last Ryder. 3 rookies is certainly an interesting move but i do like it… time will tell..Bring it on…

  4. Not sure why hardly anybody feels Alexander Bjork deserved a pick. He has the lowest scoring average on the DP world tour and has been the most consistent performer all season with no missed cuts this season. Meronk has actually missed 7 cuts

  5. No brainer, either Rose or Lowry, like them both as people and players but their 2023 form has been poor, maybe if Donald wasn't skipper and it was a European i.e. Stenson maybe he would have got in, just my 2p worth.

  6. As i already wrote : it's a European ryder cup team. The rules for qualifications are made that first the DP world tour players get a place. But the leader of of the European points are also number 2 and 3 in the world and qualified over the world list. Numbered 3 and 4 in qualifying points are Yannik Paul and Adrian Meronk. Normally this two players has to be picked – both! Then the 3 qualified over the list would be Mcintyre, Paul and Meronk. The rest comes from the world list…. What Donald did is a shame. The DP world tour counts nothing for him, has zero worth. But it's a European team….

  7. Please go back and watch Meronk's final round at Marco Simone course (Italian Open) this year.. yes he's a good player, yes he won the Italian Open but the rough at MS would be penal and short game skills required to be part of foursomes / fourball is something Lowry has. Meronk's final round was patchy despite winning the title. Besides, now Shane has the pressure to perform and he is a strong pressure player. I think Donald has picked feel players, Ludvig showed amazing short game skills. Lets go Europe!!

  8. Feeling dudded to have Meronk left out! Wins 3 times and at the Venue. Language barrier? Hardly …some undue favouritism in play it seems.

  9. The European team is legit. The team was well chosen and I say kudos to luke Donald. The USA team on the other hand is a true boys club

  10. Being polish/american I've always been torn who to root for in RC. I thought this year would be different. It would have been ground breaking for golf in Poland if Meronk got picked. Well, at least now it's really easy who to cheer for. GO USA. Hope europe gets demolished and luke donald goes down as the worst captain ever

  11. Why didn't you mention Straka? That guy's barely featured in a European tournament for years now. He's more of an American than a European

  12. Very strange this one, for the exact reasons you state … he’s won on the course and had a great season!! For me Bob was lucky to make the automatic spots over Meronk, as that should of sealed him the deal … but if I had to replace one, I think he should of taken Sepp’s place. Aberg is going to be a star and with all the college golf they play I think he’ll handle it well!! … but of course time will tell!!
