It’s called “Story time with Phil.” And this time
Phil
Mickelson
told one that officials at hallowed Augusta
National Golf Club might not appreciate.
Mickelson created another controversy Thursday by
posting a video in which the LIV golfer admits to stealing a
sign at the Masters in 2004 so he could continue a drill he
used on the east range at Augusta National, one he
believes helped him win that year.
Mickelson would lay down towels on a range from different

  1. Peter Thompson, 5 Open Championships, never practiced. If he had been on break, he would play 18 with his least effective club. For example, if he felt his wedge wasn't good last tournament, he'd play 18 with just his wedge.
He tried to play every weekend in a tournament. I suppose that is a very effective way of keeping your game sharp.
He gave a reason, "I find that I get bored on the Range. That turns me 'stale' and I don't want to play. So I don't practice."
I used to be the same. In the 70s I never practiced. I played every weekend. Practice made me stale. At that time I would shoot3-4 over everyweekend, with 2 tournaments under par. 1976, I shot 4 under 66 in the ACT Intercollegiate golf ⛳️ Championship. I was Captain, my VC shot 5 under, our team won by 16 shots… in 77 we won by 5.
At Yowani Golf Club ⛳️ in 76 I shot 5 under 67, won that.
My opportunity to turn came in 78. I was winning every weekend. The Pro in residence was longer than me off the tee, but no one else in the club was as long as me. I averaged 260m.
The apprenticeship came up. I got the interview… I thought I had my Dream Job. Building golf clubs, playing every day… the Pro said "Sorry Cliff. You came second. The fact is your Father being the General Manager, I would be seen as giving you preference."
I gave up competition golf until 1995… it's not always a woman who breaks your heart 💔… of course, that's not the end of the Story! 🤣👍⛳️

  2. Interesting what other rules did you break? Augusta National might have something to say about that
