Lilia Vu produced a Sunday masterclass at Walton Heath to land the AIG Women’s Open and end the year as she started it – with a major victory.

The American kept her composure as fellow challengers faltered, compiling a near-faultless five-under 67 to finish on an imperious 14-under-par, six shots clear of Charley Hull.

  1. Lilia Vu is a Legend. She's too good for Walton Heath. I can't wait to see her defend the title at St. Andrews old course next year. Thank you AIG❤

  2. Great tournament. Vu a worthy winner. Hull gave it everything as always, one day…

  3. Wish I had bin able to watch this with your commentary, but sadly had to watch it on yappa NBC TV, But a good Open, next time Charlie.

  4. So, why isn’t the AIG Women’s Open Champion not referred to as the AIG Women’s Open Champion Golfer of the Year?!

  5. Does this signal the beginning of the ascendance of golfers of the Vietnamese ethnicity and make golf popular in Vietnam ? First, there was Park Seri which sparked the popularity of golf in Korea, then Jutanugarn for Thailand and Feng Shan Shan for China.

The Asian ethnicities are definitely dominating women golf these days., with all five majors being won by them.

It is worthy to note that popularity of women golf in Asian countries began only in the past one or two decades. The first golf course constructed in China only opened in 1984.
