I answer two questions I get all the time from viewers.
1) How do you measure a golf club’s length?
2) How do you measure yourself for golf clubs length?

  1. I was just googling this last week and was instructed to measure from top of grip to the middle of the clubface, not to the bottom of hosel as you showed us.

  2. Thanks for the info. Wishon's chart also includes "Initial Lie". I'm guessing it tells you how many degrees upright or flat you should start at. But what is the starting point of 0 they use on the chart (61, 62, 63 degrees, etc.) for that theoretical 7i lie angle?

  3. Same for graphite and steel? I see a lot of graphite shafts 1/2” longer than steel for swing weight. Theoretically is choking down lowering the swing weight anyway?

  4. If each club manufacturer uses a different definition of "Std" and also a different definition of how to measure the club length, then when using a fitting chart, wouldn't you need to use the chart from the specific club manufacturer? The Wishon chart would really only be for Wishon clubs, no? I have a bag with irons from different manufacturers and different vintages that I have bought used, and the lengths are all over the place. My 6 iron is longer than my 5 iron and my 8 iron is longer than my 7 iron. I am trying figure out if some of my irons are non-standard lengths, and it is really difficult because the manufacturers are all different AND they have changed over time. I guess I'm just going to have to breakdown and buy a matched set of irons.

  5. Yeah, I did that and it shows initial lie 4 degrees so I guess I need to have my lie adjusted. Is the wrist to floor with shoes on and what about the height?

  6. Your videos are always easy to understand and informative. Thank you! I just found your stuff after taking a 10 year break from golf. Now I’ve got the bug again and want to shorten my driver. Thanks for the help!

  7. So this is to get your length for a 7 iron with you can than build your iron set around. How would you use this to know the lengths of what your hybrid woods or driver should be

  8. Hi, if I’m 1.5 inches shorter in 7 iron, does that mean all clubs are 1.5 shorter including driver?
