  1. Also run a mid travel trail bike (privateer 141) and a hardtail (Ragley Big Al). Loving this setup. Hardtail is setup with faster rolling tires (ground controls) and it’s much easier to cover ground and more enjoyable on mellower terrain.

  2. Looks like a fun bike. I absolutely love that frame color. One up pump works great by the way. I’ve saved my friends many times. Never had to use it for myself…knock on wood.

  3. Man I miss my hardtail for climbing! The Yeti looks rad, I remember hardtail party put a -1 angleset on it and it transformed the bike on the downs

  4. Hey Dustin you made me laugh with the its not a motorcycle comment bike looks the goods did you weigh the frame , the bigger rear tyre with slippery er tread and a soft grippy skinny er front i think works well , funny how the fifty mm stem seams long today ha ha i run two hardcore hardtails almost the same one with a 32 mm stem the other with a 45 and that seams slow compared to the shorty . 👍

  5. Nice build! I’ve always been of the idea that as a mountain biker, if one is gonna have 2 or more bikes at least one of the bikes must be a more cardio/pedalling oriented bike to train for the big days on the big bike

  6. nice vid, man. When it gets a little warmer we should go ride out towards the Marsing area and stop at Koenig distillery on the way back.

  7. Dustin off topic question, I've been a Fox guy for a bit but recently switched bikes from enduro to down countryish and I'm thinking about switching out the Fox 34 to a 21/22 Lyrik because a heavier rider 225+ with gear. Do you think it's worth $400 for the previous year "takeoff" lyrik with the charger 2.1 or would I be better off with the charger 3 or stay with Fox. You seem to love your RockShox forks.

  8. Heck yeah man!! Finally!! I have been yelling at your videos seeing your trails GET A HARDTAIL!! your have perfect hardtail trails!! last year I sold my 2nd FS fuel ex and bought a commencial meta HT frame and built a trail bike setup 130mm pike ultimate as well. GX with XO! shifter heck yeah!! but I am running 40mm rims with 2.8 rekons comfy for hardtail. I seem to ride my hardtail way more then my other 150mm/160mm bike. I does help your riding and line choice you can ride alot of stuff with a hardtail you just cant smash though it like a FS bike. It will teach you to slow down on techy stuff and get a good line. Cheers man cant wait to see 1st ride video of that bike totally rad!!

  9. Welcome to the Hardtail Party 🎉. You might know by now but I’m a huge fan of hardtail bikes and only ride “hardtail’s on hard trails” including my single speed Mtn bikes.
130mm fork is the sweet spot. So is a 50mm stem for my bikes. Your spot on with the 29×2.6” Recon tire with CushCore. I run CC on all my wheels and have been using the wide 29plus CC on my wider i35mm rims. Those details really help soften up your hardtail.
Congrats on the new home! I’m planning on moving this spring or summer after selling my home.

  10. Hi, ….about the cranks… What do you mean with they are not super boost, but longer than a standard boost?
    There is:
    -standard
    -boost
    -super boost
I‘m asking because I‘m building up the same frame and planned to install the GX boost from my full suspension bike which should fit because theYeti ARC is a boost frame, too

  11. I've considered doing the same thing, looking forward to seeing how you like it…..

  12. I'll give you a month before you have a set of the new Forekasters on that weapon! 😉

  13. So good looking. Shred it all the way! Looking forward on seeing more vids

  14. The amount of travel won't change how efficient the bike is, that's an old misconception. if suspension is set up correctly and is decent suspension it should not matter.
But of course you would not want to ride a downhill bike for an xc race and vise versa.

  15. 7:04 I have to warn you about the SLX brakes, I saw a lot of snapped SLX M7100 brake levers, a lot of claims on not so hard crashes where lever snapped easily.
but the levers are thinner than previous model. Likely bad design.

  16. 8:35 On previous brakes you could remove the plastic cap and install a screw to make get free stroke adjustment. I don't know if that's possible here. But a issue with these brakes is they have Servo Wave, so that means the power will be effected by the reach adjustment. so you need a counter adjustment. absurd. so with short fingers like a small child the brakes won't work, pads will barely touch the rotor, and with long fingers you very powerful brakes, as the lever is further out they are powerful. the reason for this is that reach adjustment moves the lever in, instead of having adjustment that moves the lever or mechanism on the push rod.

  17. Great video man. I could not agree more with your two bike logic. A hard tail and a FS for your two bikes is awesome options.

  18. Great combo of bikes. I was in a similar situation and to my surprise over time the hardtail gets used 7 out of 10 times now. I just fell back in love with the hardtail on climbs and it’s so versatile hitting gravel and trail in the same ride.

  19. DBJ, let’s go with the ARC review! 😂. Can’t wait to get some thoughts as I’m considering one of those

  20. Any reason why you went with the 120TPI Rekon in the back instead of 60TPI ?

  21. I love my ARC! I am bummed that this is only a bike check video and you haven’t hit the trail yet.

  22. Hey, I have an ibis Ripley V4 is my only bike, and I like it a lot! My trails aren’t that hard-core and I mostly ride more of an aggressive xc. I know it’s an opinion, but would you sell the ripley and get the yeti? I’ve been really thinking about this a lot and when I saw this video, thinking about it even more…
