I’ve always used fairly cheap putters, and bought them solely on looks. I had an impulse to get a nice, fitted putter while watching the Genesis this weekend.
Went in hoping to get a Newport 2, a PLD anser 2 or one of the Bettinardi models.
However, I was suggested to try some toe hang mallets and fell in love with this PLD Prime Tyne 4 and the Scotty Cameron Phantom 5.5. Performance was identical between the two, so it really came down to look and feel.
I never expected to get a high end putter, so it was hard to pass up on a Scotty Cameron. However the PLD looked and felt better to me, and I LOVE how compact it is behind the ball.
I just have the Tyne 4, but can say without a doubt it’s the best feeling/balanced putter I’ve ever used. Literally had bought a putter a few weeks back, had some club credit to spend, wasn’t looking for a putter but just made a practice swing with this and was like…oh. Sold the other putter and it’s been a phenomenal add to the bag.
I have the same one and absolutely love it!
Beautiful!!!!! Make some putts 👍🏻
Just gamed my first round with mine yesterday. It feels and looks great imo. The tyne 4 is surprisingly small. Just wish the head cover was a smidge bigger. I find myself particularly mindful when I have the club in hand. I love it!
Where’d you get fitted? How’d it go??
No matter how many times i go back to this putter at the local shop, i can’t pull the trigger on it without a very solid fitting session telling me so.
I fell in love with it when I tried it too, but I wonder how that black finish will hold-up over time, and that’s literally the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger.
Rolled putters for a long time last weekend and was blown away by this one. Had zero expectations and I agree with all you said. Felt so good. Now gotta come up with a reason to add this or a 7 to my stable
I just got this same putter last month and it’s been a random blessing for me. Went to golf galaxy to just mess around and played with this and I couldn’t deny just how good it felt and how better my putting stroke felt with it. The weighting, the look, the feel, the sound. Went back the next day and bought it. Absolutely stunning. Even on the course, my lag putting, my confidence over the ball, and my starting on line has much improved.
I also was playing with the phantom 5.5, but it just didn’t feel the same.
Now you can’t miss !!
