You’ve probably seen your buddies give you a quick golf tip or golf swing lesson before. You’re going about your round and you hit a few bad shots…all of a sudden your friend (who just sliced five of his drives OB right into the woods today) is giving you golf swing advice on how to hit straighter and farther – even though he hasn’t hit a straight one all day!

It’s tempting to turn to other peoples’ golf swing advice when things aren’t going well. They might claim that they have the secret, or that their brother invented BitCoin and he’s the best golfer on the planet because he plays golf all day long. So you’re left to play 18 holes of golf hearing, “try this tip…” “turn your hand on the club like this…” “take it back low and slow…” and my personal favorite, “so-and-so (insert tour player name here) says to do this…”

Going for the low hanging fruit in golf just doesn’t work for a bunch of reasons – (1) the person giving the advice means well, but might know nothing about your golf swing (2) the “fixes” and “changes” you’re making are usually not sustainable and don’t work in the long run and (3) you’re risking your golf swing and potentially golf season making a swing change that you’re not sure is going to work.

Here is the solution to avoid being in a state of golf swing confusion and getting your game on the path to true consistency and lasting improvement.

I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.

My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.

My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

  1. You are a wonderful teacher, which is my way of saying, I see a lot of my style of teaching in yours! I am not a good golfer, not a golf instructor…35 years of saxophone, years of teaching, dozens of students…if not more (depends how you count 'em!) and after all that, I consistently see the wisdom of my musical teachers/mentors in you. Plus, you make my golf better! Happy New Year!

  2. This video had me rolling, as it's so true. Having an understanding and constant practice of basic mechanics and systematic approach gives you a way to "reboot" when you're not playing your best. The basic premise of the stack and tilt is minimal moving parts, which is more resistant to breakdown than other systems, at least in my experience. That is why I've gravitated to it over the years. Your advice guys had me laughing so hard (seen it at many golf outings and driving ranges). Great video!!!

  3. Mr. Saguto, you saved me from YouTube hell, your no nonsense simple no bs broken down approach to golf has made my 5.5 month journey in learning this game a pure pleasure. What was seeming impossible to me and was frustrating in so many ways has now become a dream, I am not exaggerating. I started with your video about crisp, buttery contact with that mashed potato feeling (lol love that use of words) when I had made almost zero progress after watching a hundred YouTube videos because I could not make proper contact with my irons. No joke, after watching that video about 10 times to make it bible I enacted your no bs stress free swing lesson in my backyard and repeated that for a week every day. I am now hitting my irons like a dream, not always perfect by any stretch but my lord is it fun as heck to see most of my balls flying down the fairway at the right distances and direction after a proper strike. I cannot stress enough to anyone reading this if your a beginner or a high handicapper, throw it all out the window and get with Saguto and make golf fun and actually make some real tangible progress. Thank you man, from the bottom of my golf lovin heart! link to the video about crisp buttery contact for that mashed potato feeling! https://youtu.be/cuv4DMeG2Bg

  4. 100% right Tom my buddies favourite one is you lifted you're head maxi (no I didn't ) one of you're best pieces of advice in stack and tilt is my head remains down towards the ball in both back and downswing. and when they say they've did themselves they haven't. Maxi 1

  5. Dishing out unwanted advice will earn you tons of Hate, just stop ✋️. * If someone asks for advice/help, then you can proceed.

  6. Good stuff, Tom! I play with my pals and end up with 3 coaches! Over the past year and a half the coaching has gone away, of course because of Saguto golf! One of 'em still has at least 1 pointer for me per round but he doesn't harp on it! Lol! Since I'm 72 now I always threaten to play the senior tees, so the other two shut him up! Lol, they're not getting much $ off of me anymore, but they are not calling me as much to play either! Thanks Tom! Golf is fun again! 👍😎✌️

  7. I get the odd compliment from my buddies and head shakes of disbelief when i take two clubs less than them and get more distance. My advice, watch Tom Saguto on YouTube. No one's giving me dumb advice anymore lol

  8. Quick Fixes…. That's 90% of my paid golf lessons over the last 20 years. Oh wait, there's even a YouTube site called that! Glad I'm paying you now for a system i believe in. But it's hard breaking this old man's old bad habits to be consistent. Plus golfing the 1st five years without any lessons didn't help either. Ain't happening like some of your responders wildly claim but im trying. Thanks Tom

  9. Great video and advice once again Tom .. I myself never give advice unless asked and even then I tell them to practice ,practice ,practice…I've said it before , if you are seeing this channel and looking to get better and see amazing results join Tom's online school ! 2 years in and I'm seeing such amazing results ! And so will you ! Remember, gotta put in the time and work .. change takes time ,results take time .just like dieting and exercise results wont happen next day … keep swinging everyone !

  10. Dude at GNC with a big spare tire for a stomach was giving me diet pill advice and was in the leanest shape of my life.

  11. "Bonjour, ça va bien ?"… Pretty good french pronunciation 👍😜😅!
Great to have funny videos sometimes 🖐️.

  12. Tom I'm always amazed by how far you hit your driver. Did you have to do a lot of conditioning to achieve it?

  13. It’s only matter of time before you break through to a billion subscribers. Keep going. You thought about doing some other style content, On course stuff etc? Maybe a collab with Paige Spiranic would be good to see! 😀

  14. It helped me so much when I signed up for your online lessons and really tried hard to ignore other tips! There are a few instructors that I occasionally watch but I make sure I’m looking at the tip in the context of your/my system.

  15. Hilarious! Oooooh-Yeah, seen plenty of that over the years. Especially the Stranger-Danger "Drop it into the Slot" advice. What I want to know is does the slot only accept nickels and dimes or does it accept quarters too??? Run Forrest, RUN!

Folks: as my swing coach, I cannot praise Tom enough for his invaluable instruction, guidance and getting my once-upon-a-time, "Frankenstein/Multiple Personality Disorder" swing corrected. It has taken time, practice and commitment but absolutely more than well worth it – I am no longer wandering in the land of golf misery and desperation but loving and enjoying the game more than ever. Never before have I struck the ball as solidly (and further), tightened my shot dispersion beyond expectation or consistently bomb my driver while keeping it in play. THANK YOU, MY MAN! And by the way, that Blackhawk is likely trying to nab y'er KFC bucket of goodies, keep shoo-ing it away!

  16. I love your videos. Quick question, do you use jumbo grips? It looks like you’ve got a putter grip on the iron in this video.

  17. So first of all, I love this content creator, and my golf swing has been completely revolutionized for good by his advice.

But secondly – and, Tom, you know it's true – It is completely ironically delicious to watch the king of "quick tips" dissing… quick tips. 😂

  18. that's what (basically) happened to me ….some guy I was playing with a number of years ago told me that I needed to put more right hand into the swing (more power) as I was to left sided (as he put it) I haven't been able to hit decent irons ever since (and what really pees me off I was shooting in and out of the 70's at the time) so if you are playing well ignore others tips or like me you could end up regretting it…..big time….

  19. AAAAh, I remember this one time out on the course, well intentioned buddy who was a superior golfer then me " Just bend the knees… yeah yeah a little more. Didnt help an ounce. Still doesnt . The only way to golf swing nirvana is within . And of course by watchig SagutoGolf videos then hitting the range. Great stuff Tom!

  20. Hey Tom! Love your videos they have helped me tons. However, recently I have had trouble with shanks and pushes.I feel as if I shift my weight forward in transition which causes me to hit the hozzle. When u say keep all your weight forward where exactly do u feel the weight throughout your swing? On your heels or in the middle perhaps? And does the weight stay in the same spot throughout the swing on the front? Thank you for everything u do, best golf instructor on YouTube!

  21. Love it Tom! Does your online class have anything for off-season golf, things a person could work on indoors?

  22. Brilliant video Tom thank you. Since I’ve been following you I have stopped watching other videos and trying new stuff I just go back to what you tell me works when I play bad and the land of milk and honey always returns. I don’t get it right every time but my resets always work and I’m committed to giving it time. Frankly I’ve never looked forward to playing golf as much as I do these days and have you to thank for that. How thick are your grips btw? Keep the content coming I love it.

  23. Hey Tom, I am 62 yrs old is the arms straight, big turn meant for me? And can you do more videos for 60+ golfers?
I thank you in advance for your cooperation…

  24. it's a funny thing; but, i had a lot of lessons from multiple teaching professionals; and the only swing adivce that i was ever given, that has worked, is the swing advice that was given to me by friends of mine. i ignored their advice at the time and listened only to the swing advice my swing coach gave me, much to my cost. and, it was just simple things they told me. one told me my knees were too bent. one told me that if i was going play with a short backswing i still needed to make a full turn. one told me my stance was too wide. one told me to hit little half shots and build from there. simple stuff, but the pga professional didn't point this out to me. one tried to get me to bend and twist all over the place. and, it was this that made me realise that teaching professionals try to bend the nature of anatomy to their will in their effort to impose their own particular playing philosophy on the world. eventually i said to my coach: "do you work on the things you teach me" "oh, no". "I just go out there and hit it" says said coach. and, he hit it a few times more than i did, too

  25. I highly recommend Toms On-Line golf course. Its comprehensive and the format is very user friendly. If you want to hit long straight golf shots this is it.

  26. Hey Tom, you replied to my comment on your video a few days ago. I was a stack and tilt golfer about 10 years ago and started transitioning to a different swing type to build higher club head speed, I haven’t golfed the same since (timing, rhythm, etc). I took a few years off and I’m starting again now and your videos have been the most helpful for getting back into the swing of things.

I used 1 tip about staying head stable and straight arm – immediately started getting center face contact more consistently. One of my struggles with distance was heel bias contact.

Im still chasing some distance on my long irons but I’m sure your instruction will get me there. I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for the free lessons you provide here and your method of teaching.

Jumping into your website to get more. My goal is to get back to a single digit hcp in 2023 which is where I was in 2012.

  27. I believe those 3 things, weight forward, straight arms, relationship… Have all made my game better.
    You like Helicopters? 😂🤣
