The Hammer Golf Grip. Part of the series: The Hammer Golf Swing. What is the best grip for the hammer golf swing? Learn all the details about this golf technique in this free video clip on golf tips.
I like that grip! I think I did that when I first learned how to play golf to stop slicing. I think I just started doing that and my bad swings tended to be hooks when it was bad, but the slicing was gone. My regular shot was a baby draw.
For sure love this grip – allows for baseball swings when slices are an issue. Just can't push distance with hips with it (my best drives with this grip are only around 270yd, BUT I always get the shape I want out of it). For me a pull draw with a neutral hit is the only shot that goes further with consistent shape at that minimal effort level (305yd on the draw and 295yd on the open face fade). I try not to swing faster than 110mph and I do my best to keep my hips quiet (my turn is armsy for more accurate contact), but man the accuracy of strike makes a world of difference on the distance and the hammer grip is pretty darn consistent (for the driver and woods, kind of sucks for the irons minus the lob/out of sand shot).
