  1. What loft is your chipper? Surely it would be logical to compare a chipper against the iron which you would chip and run?

  2. Golf stores around the world are going to be wondering WTF is going on with people coming in to buy chippers

  3. How different is the chipper out of bad lies to using a 9 iron or whatever? In the real world you can pick your club to chip with whereas having a chipper will encourage you to not chose your club.

  4. I keep saying no, will not be putting a chipper in the bag but in the words of 007, never say never, however, as I play the vast majority of my my golf at B&B which is a links, the old Texas wedge can be used from 20 yds off most of the greens (apart from the par 3’s)

  5. Tried those square strike chippers but they felt awful, so stumped up and got the Cleveland and it has transformed my short game, feels good, confidence has grown and therefore scores have come down, thought Coach would get one as well but has gone down Odyssey route.

  6. I bought the Cleveland chipper a couple of weeks ago since watching you guys having so much fun with it and I love it. I agree that’s it not necessarily “better” than a wedge but it is definitely a lot less thinking involved.

  7. 37° chipper versus 52° wedge, all things being equal, one would have to generate more ball speed to move the ball hit with the 52° club than the 37° club. So a bladed miss hit wedge shot will naturally end further away from the hole – head to head the average golfer (me) would be much better off chipping with a chipper than wedge. But if you play by the 14-club max rule, which club do you take out of your bag to gain a chipper? Chances are you've already reduced the number of fairway woods you once carried to add an extra wedge or two. And you've likely already reduced the number of irons to accommodate a hybrid or two. I prefer my friend's response – forget about the 14-club rule and carry 22 clubs. The only downside is he has to hire a Sherpa to get his clubs from the car to the cart barn. ;). Great video, Coach! And that other guy, too, who looks like you just plucked him out of the line at Disneyland.

  8. As a subscriber this might seem to be treachery, but Mark's style of chipper is the more versatile than the putting style.

The only downside to Mark's iron like model is that it is not adjustable.

If you are a cheapskate – I speak from experience – get a kid's 7 or 8 iron – try to find a forged version from the 1980s or 1970s. Usually these are comically oversized and do not have any bounce. Put an adult's grip – you can use this to chip out of sand, mud, Dubai rough or carpet. The trajectory will be much lower than a 64 and the only thing to fear is the thin (and even this will not go too far).

And yes it is much better than the equivalent chip and run club because the miss margin is so much bigger (assuming do not have mad skills like Coach or Seve and carry a 2 iron that you chip with)

  9. I have both types of chippers. Problem is that they don't come with instructions. Do you do anything different when you use them? They haven't remained in my bag. I played my first two rounds of the year last weekend with the type Mark has. I need more practice with it.

  10. Just the fact that Marks went passed the hole means they had a chance of dropping in and I like that with my chipper and yes you don’t have to think about it…..👍. The funny thing is I talked my mates out of using chippers a few years ago! 😂

  11. I've got a 55 degree Mazel chipper off amazon, early last year before you both made chippers "cool" 😉
I've got to admit I prefer a more versatile Mazel/Cleveland wedge style chipper to a putter/mallet style chipper.
