This is misleading. What you mean is: the way your golf swing LOOKS doesn’t matter, especially the backswing. The fact is you’re delivering the club to the ball in an admirably efficient manner, and that is no small feat.
I think it would be good to break up mistakes inside 100 yards or ( chips and pitches) vs bad putts. I think a lot of beginners or even mid handicappers expect to get up and down too often vs just getting it on the green and giving yourself a putt for par. For the avg beginner even when it comes to short game, they game gets much easier when you simply try get it on the green or even just the same quadrant as the flag and working on 2 putting from there.
I grind on the golf swing because it's never the same two days in a row (or even two hours in a row), and the majority of my penalty strokes are from the tee box. My short game needs work, but until I can get inside one hundred yards in fewer than three or four strokes with consistency, the short game is going to have to wait. You have the same swing nearly every time you swing. I envy you. I've been playing this game for nearly forty years. I've had sixty or seventy lessons with six or seven different coaches, and I'm searching, still, for a repeatable swing.
one of your best videos Adam. I've never seen a scorecard which shows how pretty your swing looked. I think the ultimate example of what you talk about here is the UK Golfmates channel and Old Man Pat (OMP). He's 80 years old, plays off 14 and regularly beats the 6-7 hcap host (Liam) without getting shots (see video posted today). He just pars and bogies the course to death by hitting it straight, having a short game honed by 50 years of playing and he plays off sensible tees. https://youtu.be/JCpd9i3k7XI
Cliche time: Drive for show…putt for dough!!! If the game is a number 75% of your shots are inside 100 yards. Practice the short game! Let the big dog eat!!! Go to the field, Junuh!!! Don't worry. Be Happy! and of course…. GOB!!! Great video Adam!!!
I see you read my comment on a previous video. I said that people are consumed with playing “golf swing”, instead of scoring. And…. I mentioned why people might be playing the wrong tees. I’m glad you made a video about it. I enjoy your content.
Despite your "non Tour "swing, you don't duff the ball very often and you're insanely straight given the mechanics. I feel like this is not common for guys with "typical amateur" swings. The swing doesn't matter if someone is as capable as you and able to get the club face squared more often than not…. Otherwise it probably does matter at least a little bit.
Love these videos where you're not quite on for a round, but you can still show us that on an average round of yours, you'll still keep it reasonable and come out with a decent score.
Other than your top on 15 all your strikes were solid. That is outstanding. You do a very good job of staying in your golf posture. You are a solid chipper and I have seen you putt much better. You and Sidekick carry the message for all of us that the golden area for club golfers is inside 100 yards. Stay healthy!
I really liked the swing tracer on the first drive. Makes the path much easier to visualize. It really is all about optimizing within 100. Big goal of mine this year as it requires a lot of confidence but also instills it as well if you can make it a strength
Hey man. I really like your videos. I live in the myrtle beach area the golf capital of the world. Would love to have you come down and play some golf together. I think it would be alot of fun. Hope to hear from you.
The only problem with lack of length and teeing it forward is if you want to play competitively. All the tournaments and men's nights I play are from tips for everyone under 10 handicap.
Can confirm, Marshalls will still bark at video golfers when there is zero time loss from recording. Love the content, been working on that pull swing from our Lookout Mountain round with Zack and Matt. The hardest mind hurdle for me has always been to swing slower (or not try to kill it).
I am a fan of the channel, but honestly you should get a couple of lessons or watch some videos to improve your swing. Some simple adjustments such keeping the club head outside your hands on the take away will make a world of difference and you’ll pick up distance and consistency – I promise you. We all love playing and trying to get better!
I can get out to 330 yards 3/10 times in play or playable. BUT… I can get out to 280 yards 8/10 times on the fairway. So, when I decided to use my head I went from shooting mid 90’s to low 80’s and golf is more fun than ever. Swing medium ! Not too easy, not too hard. Cheers. Great video ! If ever in New Hampshire or Massachusetts I’d be honored to host you. Thanks for the great videos ! Your channel is the only one that my wife and daughter want to watch with me !! Cheers.
I have chosen now twice to not spend on eqipment but on lessons, unfortunately for me the first lesson with the instructor was not like i expected but i decided to try with someone else and I feel that i improved immensely with the second teaching pro. I cannot wait to get a more consistent swing to be able to manage the courses better. I usually shoot 88-94 but i hope wit this last lesson to be in the low 80s
Such great advise Adam. Been watching your channel for a while now and really enjoying the videos. Yeah, those damm "blow-up" holes, is usually what ruins our cards 🤣🤣
I agree that scoring really takes place inside 100 yards. But the problem with so many of us is getting it into play. The first shot (regardless of length of hole) sets everything else up and is, therefore, the most important one. But a decent short game then keeps my par from becomning a bogey, my bogey from becoming a double, my double from beconing a triple, etc.
Another great video…during my bimonthly practice (don't get out much) if I am fortunate enough to be playing a round, I'm not rushing to rapid fire through a large bucket I see so many 90-100 shooters do…I like to grab 2-3 golf balls throw them around ( what is normally an empty chipping green…as most people are, well…see above) grab a sw, pw, and 7iron and chip them to holes, get the putter and finish them off… -ending with a "9 hole match" good lies, garbage lies, bump and runs, flops, etc…always finishing. -and if I'm feel particular froggy…a game of "drawbacks" putting 9 holes , of its not in, draw the Ball back a putter length until it is…Cheers Adam!
Good advice. As I am now over 70 I play from the gold tees. Usually makes the course from 5200 to 5700 yards. I can par or birdie every hole if I’m playing well. Mistakes can lead to bogeys and the occasional double but I break 80 regularly. My index is 9.7, not so bad.
Funny how there are phases to golf development that a lot of us have in common. I came to the realization not to long ago that I needed to abandon the idea of having a "pretty" golf swing and focus on having an "effective" swing that was simply good enough to make the ball go generally where I want it to most of the time. I am getting much closer to that goal than I ever was with having a pretty swing, and keeping the ball in play a lot more. Now I can really focus on honing the 100 and in game to see those scores start dropping.
Great video and one of the more important lessons golf teaches. Reminds me of Golf Sidekick's videos with Didi. Thank you!
Congrats on 25k! Getting my short game to be anywhere close to yours would shave a lot of strokes for me. Can you do a video on your thought process on anything within 50 yards, almost similar to the putting video with Sidekick? How much do you practice your short game?
The fact that your average drive is around 240 with only 91mph swing speed shows your consistency with it….. I think golf is about having fun.The people that are too bothered about scoring ruin the game for themselves
Been watching your videos for a few months now and just realized I wasn’t subscribed. I am now. This video hit home for me. For too long I’ve worried about my swing looking like this or that, we’ll today I played and just swung, within myself, and played one of the best rounds I’ve played in a while. Keep up the great content.
Whats wrong with your swing? It looks good, nice rythm and tempo, good contact. No wondering you are able to break 80, at least not with that short game of yours. Better than most hackers around the golf course (including me:P )
Adam I dig what you do, how you do it. Love the format, no BS voice over, and the editing. If you ever make it to North Florida let's go have some fun!
You are by far my favorite golf vloger. I appreciate your demeaner and apparent behavior. We all know how frustrating golf can be. Your commentary and pace of videos is refreshing. Keep up the good play!
Really interesting video and take. I have a different perspective though…The thing that struck me most as factors towards your over-par holes was not the quality of your 100yd in play or mid-range putting. All your holes over par actually came from either missing the green in regulation, and/or 3-putting once on the green where your proximity to the hole was further (the penalty shot off the tee obviously also a factor). I actually think you put too much expectation on your sub-100yd scrambling and mid-range putts as the key to saving par, whereas the stats available to us today show clearly that the probability of par significantly decreases as soon as the green is missed on approach, and is greatly increased by proximity to hole after approach, suggesting the key factor here is actually ensuring your approach play gets you on the green, and then ensuring good pace putting to avoid 3 putt. So, enjoyed the video, but perhaps not in agreement with your analysis. All the best!

A great driving day seems to accompany a tough day putting.
I want to see you work on gaining distance so we can see what you could do with some distance.
Your getting off the tee well. No doubt if you putt well you are shooting around mid 70’s. Great content as always

Loved this

My 7 iron swing speed, 96 mph is faster than your driver swing speed. You still score better than me though.

I disagree, score is irrelevant. It’s all about a beautiful swing and yours is hideous

Heh, that worst shot of the day, so far. make me laugh.

1:00 up and down virtually 100% all the time???? NOPE!
Scored 98 a few weeks ago and then 92 last weekend. Can finally feel it starting to click

At the end of the day Adam we’re not professionals. It’s all about enjoying your golf and knowing your limitations.
Another great video. An inspiration to us amateurs. Keep up the good work.
