Overswinging often feels powerful but makes it much harder to control the club and strike the ball consistently. A simple pause at the top of the backswing helps you feel proper swing length and improves sequencing on the way down. This drill was famously used by Tiger Woods under the guidance of Butch Harmon to improve control and consistency.
