Footjoy Hyperflex Golf Shoe Review 2021

What I Think.

There has been a lot of Hype around these Hyperflex, with Footjoy putting a lot of marketing behind this shoe. Players such as Rafa Cabrera-Bello have been wearing them in Dubai and you can certainly feel a buzz around them.

When I first saw them I was really not sure, Footjoy know shoes like the Air Max from Nike have started to get some traction with younger golfers and this is their answer.

The non BOA version retail for around £130, first impressions wise they look very similar to the Flex XP of 2020 which had a retail price of £100. So what is the difference? Firstly the Strato foam on the midsole, this foam has been developed specifically for golf. It feels firmer around the ankle and heel for stability when playing but much more cushioned down the shoe and onto the outsole.

The outsole also features the Opti Flex design which is designed to mirror the way you walk and flex with each step you take. Finally the rest of the shoe is made from this waterproof breathable mesh with a sown in tongue. It is not until you look at this close up the design grows on you the membrane keep the water out and also makes it easy to wipe any mud etc off.

The BOA fit is something different from Footjoy this time, for those who do not know Footjoy have exclusive rights to have the dial on the back, this is to help push to foot forwards and give a solid fit which I totally agree with.

The Hyperflex has the WrapID fit across the top of the foot which is basically a modern day velcro style! This really helps give a snug fit across the foot that is very cushioned.

Fit wise personally I go half a size smaller they do feel quite big.

Would I have these instead of the Pro SL? Watch the video to find out.
