Welcome to Anthony Dunn PGA Philippines Coach, your trusted guide to playing better, more consistent golf. If you are over 50 and losing distance, you are losing it before you swing – low launch, no trail-side load, and early release.
➡️ Golf Over 50: Stop Losing Distance Before You Swing (3 Drills)
In this lesson I show you 3 drills to hit it higher and add carry without swinging harder – sweep it off the tee for launch, load your trail side for storage, and sequence your release with the WOOSH feel.
➡️ In this video, I will cover:
➔ Drill 1 – Sweep it off the tee for higher launch
➔ Drill 2 – Load your trail side to store power
➔ Drill 3 – Sequence release with WOOSH timing
➔ How to practice this week for 20 extra yards
💡 Pro tip: Flare your lead toe, ball forward inside lead heel, and listen for the whoosh just before to after impact. Launch + load + late release beats harder swinging.

Which drill surprised you most? Drop your yardage below — I want to know how far you're hitting it right now 👇"
Im not sure of my carry distance as my ball flight is fairly low but I average about 200m and Im mostly right side fairway. Drill 1 looks difficult to adapt to but I will give it a go if it gets me more height and distance.
The attack angle is what I am struggling with, although I believe it is improving so hopefully this video will help. Keep up the great work👍👍
I’m not stating my distance it’s awful. I get height but no distance! What would you suggest.
Drill 3 was the best one for me, my carry is about 240 and I’m in my 50s, I tend to have a slight fade.
Do you have any drills to help with over the top as my path tends to be out to in !
I'm a relative novice and only started playing after I turned 50 but I'm struggling with the driver. Most of my drives are low ??
Great tips! Will be trying these drills before my next round! Thanks Anthony
Oh wow I’m updating my comment from yesterday, I went to the range today and tried this. I My confidence with the driver is now 90%.
I tried drill 1 today with no ball on the tee but having a ball on the ground in front of the tee. I was shocked that I could hit the top of the tee and not the ball. So I must be hitting on the up !!
I tried drill 1 on the course today and got more height and a bit more distance, plus I noticed it wasnt so much right like previous shots. This looks like a possible big improvement for me! Big thank you!
Thanks for analyzing my video, you were too nice in your response but absolutely spot on. I will work with your suggestions and let you know, again, Thank You!!
Very good lesson
Not hitting it long enough my clubhead speed is good but not getting anywhere near those distances you shared
Great video
OMG Went to a trackman simulator to test this out the other day and found out my normal swing was -1 attack angle and 4 degrees out to in path ( local instructor showed me) so after a few balls ( about 20) I then got 3 degree positive and -1 path. He then explained rate had reduced and my carry distance increased 12 yards !!!
Which cost you more distance – hitting DOWN on driver, staying centered with no trail-side load, or early release? I was all three. Tell me yours below 👇
Thanks for all your help as my swing has greatly improved due to your guidance ! And thank you for the free on line lesson too!
