You’ve Been Taught to Hit a Draw COMPLETELY WRONG – Do THIS Instead!

Want to hit a tight, compressed draw without feeling like you have to swing massively in-to-out or manipulate the club through impact? In this video, I’m joined by Trevor Salman to show you a much simpler way to build the shot before you even start your swing. Pasted text

For years, golfers have been taught to swing way out to the right to hit a draw. The problem is that this can easily lead to blocks, hooks, thin strikes and poor low-point control. Instead, this lesson shows you how to use setup, ball position, shaft angle and clubface position to preset a draw while still making a much more neutral golf swing. Pasted text

In this video, you’ll learn:
• How to create a draw without swinging excessively in-to-out
• Why ball position changes both path and start direction
• How the lead arm and shaft relationship influences low point
• How to preset the clubface for a controlled push-draw
• Why the face should be closed to the path but still open to the target
• How to build the shot at setup instead of manipulating it through impact
• How moving the ball position can change the shape without changing your swing
• A simple routine you can take straight onto the golf course

The key is to build the shot first, then make your normal swing.

By understanding the relationship between low point, club path, clubface and ball position, you can create a much more predictable draw with better compression and far less manipulation. Pasted text

If you struggle with blocks, hooks, thin shots or trying to force an in-to-out swing path, this lesson will give you a much clearer framework for shaping the golf ball.

  1. I’ve been told from a lesson from a coach in person to swing to the right and it ruined my game. Caused lots of Fat & thin shots. This makes so much more sense

  2. So what difference is the set up for an 8 iron versus a 4 iron? I learned to set ball positions for length of the iron. I would never set up the ball at low point for a short iron

  3. If I understand this correctly – the face is aimed to the target with the clubs face closed in relation to the shaft with the ball in line with the lead shoulder. Then just move ball back 2-3 balls to effectively open the face in relation to target but closed to path?

  4. Eh?? If I move the ball back in the stance, and close the face…. there goes the dynamic loft. You'll end up with people flipping the club head in a desperate attempt to get their loft back. A draw simply requires a negative face to path angle – all you are doing is sacrificing loft to achieve this.

  5. No I haven't. I've being doing this ever since I managed to dial down my overactive forearm rotation that caused me to overdraw most of the time.

  6. Hopefully you will bring Trevor back to show us how to do this with driver where the ball position is forward and the low point is behind the ball. Having said that this was a great video and thanks for sharing!

  7. Something seems off here. This seems to assume that the face would be perpendicular to the target line at impact, before making any adjustments to draw the ball. But that can’t be true because the bottom of the swing arc is target-side of the ball, by about 4”, not at the ball. The face would be square to the target line at the bottom of its arc, i.e. forward of the ball, so both the face and the path would already be open to the target line at impact (which happens earlier than the bottom of the swing arc) without having to do anything unusual to make it happen.
