Want to hit your irons so pure it feels illegal? In this golf lesson, PGA Tour veteran Jay Delsing shows you how to compress the golf ball, create forward shaft lean, and hit crisp, high-flying iron shots with a simple, repeatable golf swing. If you’re struggling with fat shots, thin shots, slicing your irons, or inconsistent ball striking, Jay breaks down the fundamentals that can help you make better contact, hit more greens in regulation, and shoot lower scores.

Learn how proper ball position, shoulder alignment, weight distribution, divot location, and downswing sequencing work together to produce solid iron contact. Jay demonstrates why your divot should start after the ball, how to load your trail hip correctly, and why initiating the downswing with your lower body is the secret to natural shaft lean and effortless compression. You’ll also learn the step drill, a practical golf swing drill designed to improve weight transfer, shallow the club, eliminate over-the-top movements, and help you finish in balance.

Jay also shares a valuable iron-striking lesson from PGA Tour legend Johnny Miller and reveals common mistakes that prevent amateur golfers from hitting their irons consistently. Whether you’re trying to stop hitting behind the golf ball, improve your 7-iron contact, gain confidence with your approach shots, or simply learn how to strike your irons like a PGA Tour professional, this lesson will help you build a more reliable golf swing.

  1. Knowing it took a full year to figure out one tip from Johnny Miller makes me feel so much better about everything I don’t get yet. Glad we get the shortcut!

  2. As a senior my balance is awful! My head moves towards the ball! I notice your head stays still and actually goes just a little back. If my head,or center of balance, moves just a little bit forward I shank 😢 your head is moving back and left on contact. Any balace tips?
