Course record fires Yamashita to Aramco glory

Miyu Yamashita wrapped up the Aramco Korea Championship with a course record nine-under-par 63 on Sunday, putting the finishing touches to a tournament she had led since the half-way stage.

The Japanese star’s bogey-free finish left her three shots ahead of the field on 22 under, despite Sara Kouskova matching her 63 at New Korea Country Club.

It was the world No 5s second title on the Ladies European Tour (LET), as she also won the 2025 AIG Women’s Open.

“I’m so happy. Today my shot, my putting, everything was feeling so good. I had trust in my game. I like this course,” Yamashita said.

“It’s my first time playing this tournament and I’m so happy to win, and I also didn’t think I could win so many times, so I’m happy about that.”

Kouskova was equally happy with her performance, especially as closing birdies at 17 and 18 gave her the clubhouse lead. But the 27-year-old acknowledged it would have taken something truly special to catch Yamashita.

“It’s been such a good day, it’s just topped off a really good week. I’m really happy with how we played and I couldn’t have done much better golf today honestly,” Kouskova said.

“I couldn’t catch [Miyu] even with this because I thought if I have a really low one today, it could be good. I’m still so pumped. I tried to put one foot in front of the other and stayed really calm during the whole day.”

Hong Kong’s Ginnie Ding and Chinese Taipei’s Yani Tseng ended the week in a share of third place on 16 under.

Ding’s bogey-free 66 helped her to her best result on the LET.

“It was a very special week, and I have so many emotions,” Ding said. “I went into it with an open mind having just come from the Asian Games. It was a promising week and I felt there was so much potential. It was really nice to be able to harness it this week and the putts dropped.”
