What does trail wrist do??

Hi guys.

I have been in search for the best way for me to improve downswing. I notice that pretty much every single fine golfer creates a decent amount of trail wrist extension and elbow tuck as the club comes down, and I do feel like they help with keeping the swing on plane, squaring the clubface, and swallowing the club.

However, when I add extension on my trail wrist coming down I feel really unnatural. Sometimes I feel a little better if I already have the extension during backswing, because the transition would feel really weird and my trail wrist would hurt.

How should I understand this whole trail wrist thing and how should I practice to improve?

I compared pictures of my hands and a YT coach's. First pic is mine.

  1. Just show a stop sign to the camera on the way down for a split second.

You don’t hold it, you just point the palm out. This will flex the lead wrist slightly as you lower the arms to your side

You don’t hold anything, it’s just a really brief idea that you’re turning your palm of your trail hand to the ground as you come down, and as you do that and keep your arms at your side it’ll do this.

You don’t point the palm to the ground on in front of you, it’s to your right side.
