MIDLAND, Texas – It’s already the final fall tournament for Tarleton State Men’s Golf on Monday-Tuesday, as the Texans will compete in Wyoming’s Tall City Collegiate at Midland Country Club in Midland, Texas.
The Texans will be one of 12 teams competing at the Par 72, 7,354-yard course. Six of Tarleton State’s eight-man roster will compete; Kellen Young at No. 1, Owen Prewitt at No. 2, Noah Sandlin at No. 3, Drew Ironside at No. 4, Nicholas Papacharalambous at No. 5, and Jace Hulett as an individual.
This will be the fourth and final tournament for the Texans this fall. They have steadily improved each event thus far, going from a 15th place finish at +42 in the season opener, an 11th place result at +21 in the second tournament, and then a 10th place finish at +12 in the Argent Financial Classic two weeks ago.
Young was named the UAC Men’s Golfer of the Week following his outing in Louisiana. He shot a -5 (67) in the final round, going -6 (72-71-67) in the three-day. He was flawless on the card in posting the best round by a Texan this season, with five birdies and 13 pars. Across the 54 holes, he had 13 birdies, seven bogeys and 34 pars. His tied-third place on the individual leaderboard was his highest mark as a Texan, and his -5 (67) was his best round since he shot -6 (66) at Lamar’s Golden Nugget Invitational last March.
For Young, Ironside and Papacharalambous, this will be their fourth tournament of the year, playing in every single event for Tarleton State. Sandlin will be playing in his third event, and the same for Hulett, his second as an individual. Prewitt will be playing in his second event for Tarleton State.
