  1. Joe's biggest problem (other than his horrendous grip) is he doesn't take direction well. You could change his grip during a lesson, but as soon as he goes to the course he will revert back to his bad habits.

  2. Look at 10:00. He's swinging like he's hitting a tee-ball. If you photoshopped a ball on a tee 3 foot in the air, gave him a bat you're looking at someone trying to hit a ball waist high. Look at Wes in the same frame.

  3. 100% … Bad grip, no width, across the line at the top, then casts into an “olé”-like stuck move that’s way over his plane line. 😮😮😮 But …

In his defense, he’s clearly athletic (hockey player?). Just watch his lower body — the footwork, hip movement, rotation, and balance are actually quite good. There’s a lot in that foundation to build on! But until he fixes the rest, he’ll struggle to consistently hit his carry numbers, with a tendency to send balls long. Lots of GIRVs … Greens-in-Regulation-Visited. 😢

I’d start by taking Joey to a par-3 course, keeping every shot under, say, 140 yards, and having him play exclusively with a finesse grip, or a “six-finger” grip, to control the club without tension in the hands or manipulation of the clubface. A par-3 course is perfect because it takes swinging with power out of the equation and puts a premium on feel, sequencing, and distance control.

As Joey develops better feel, face stability, and consistent carry, the goal is to retain those same feels as he works through the rest of the bag. He’s already got a pretty good engine. Now he needs to learn how to steer it!

  4. The real head scratcher here is how this guy has been playing this long and also playing is his job… but he still has major issues in the fundamental areas of the game. GRIP… I mean really?? GRIP. Why was that not the first thing this guy worked on when they started gaining traction on YouTube? He could've been a badass by now if he would've fixed that. And you know damn well he's been told 100 times about it. SMH

  5. I have been a critic of Joey's swing since day one. Someone who plays as much golf as he does on a Utube platform in my opinion should improve over time and Want to improve. He consistently has a crazy middle of the fairway hook that immediately finds the trees or the tough. And then this is the part that gets my ire. He has a lean to watch the inevitable that almost looks like he is falling down. And then seems surprised the ball is 50 yards gone

  6. I just hate the excuses. He skulls balls over the green and bemoans the green doesn’t hold his shot or he hooks it into the trees and grips about the bad luck he has when faced with a crap lie. Oh and don’t get me started on the practice swing divots
