  1. Love Scotts message…played a skins game a month ago, and I tried a dumb downed version of Decade…instead of trying to birdie everyhole, the ol "birdie or bogey" mantra…I just tried to pick normal reasonable targets…not going at all pins, unless in middle of green etc…
Drove it great all day and great speed on greens, admittedly…
Started -4 through 5 holes…gave some back, but was in a better frame of mind, not a golf roller-coaster of birds and bogs…made the day overall more enjoyable…
    Thanks for another quality guest!

  2. Hard disagree about shot shaping in regard to the tour players. I think owning a shot shape is good skill to learn as a higher handicap but Tiger and Scottie are artsy shot shapers and they seem to have advantages other guys just don’t seem to have because of these skills. Tiger has said many times he has a shot shape in mind with every shot… even chips!

  3. I’ve used arccos for 4-5 years now and still love it lol there are some natural limitations with how the strokes gained works but it gives you a good general idea and does all the hard stat tracking for you

  4. Oh man what a complex subject. I mean most of this is teaching golf effectively. And don't get me wrong I love systems to measure golf and help players. I created my own custom stat sheet for my players 17 years ago for this exact same reason. I need to watch it a few times because I want to make sure I fully know exactly what he is saying. I do the evaluation of every player on day one for basically the same reason. I want them to tell me the story of how they play golf and well most of them can't because they are lacking the data. So in that aspect I love this. The problem is you have to be able to custom design these kinds of data collections and work within the players abilities to apply good data. I give my players specific data to gather once they are ready however some players are NOT ready for this type of information also, or they need a simple version at first just to get started on playing better golf. So ultimately my coaching with my students is where this comes into play along with helping them develop the swing, short game and abilities. Great teachers are doing all of this with their students as I have for 20 years now. Now that being said. A few points I can think of. I believe we are indicating a solid reliable ball flight is good.. YES and especially for most am players because they are all over the place mostly and no where near a consistent pattern at all. On day one I establish with them that one of the goals it to find a pattern and work towards that until its achieved. The change in equipment, swing types and other things since the 30s to 70s has also leaned towards this style of play as well. While there were some players in the past who "worked" the ball it was no where near as many as is portrayed in books and magazines. Even the players of the past mostly had a very stock pattern they leaned on the most. Only the highly gifted players could master multiple patterns. Playing your pattern then knowing your miss % is something I have been doing with players for 20 years. Coaching them through playing lessons on how to play with this is the major 2nd phase of development. Now putting… I have my 3 standard use putting drills which addresses 95% of what was discussed as well. While I don't agree starting line cant be learned without distance control, I understand how distance control plays into it for sure. However very specific guided drills, too hard to describe here, are how I avoid that issue. I use my 3 drills, then we look at technique later once they have increased their %s of achievement within the drills to begin the precision of their stroke once the big things have been cleaned up. I will end on this because I have about 10,000 things I want to say. The most used training aid(s) on tour by far every week is one of the easiest ways to help players learn starting lines and it is one of the very few aids I ever recommend for players because most aids are garbage.

  5. Oh and bogey vs birdie etc. Its coaching players 101. If you know how to get players to develop the approach to playing the game it is game changing. But once again at all levels it has to be adjusted to match the players current level of ability. In my playing lessons we constantly go over this mindset.

  6. I have gone through DECADE this winter and started to use the system and it is really working. I am 65 year 5 handicap and even if I have not seen the full result yet, I am already after 12 registered rounds shooting much more consistently around my handicap or even lower. I think every golfer would benefit from this, but of course guys or girls playing recreational golf with their buddies will never have the level of interest and commitment that you need. I have the elite version of DECADE and I think it is super interesting to follow the progress and that it clearly gives me an understanding what I need to work on. Thanks Scott for this great system, I am sure I will have fun this golfing season….😊❤

  7. had to use AI to see a "lite" version of Decades golf for mid-handicappers. I'm a math person so his system scratches me where i itch, but so much of his system seems geared to single digit players looking to get to scratch. His "average golfers lay up too much" mantra hurts my brain when i apply that to my over-the-top driver swing that can have me lose 6+ balls a round compared to a 3-wood where i'll hit 50% of fairways and keep it in play 90% of the time. Happy to see his "Decades Foundation" adjustment that is more geared to more common golfers.

  8. I played a pga assistant pro today in a match, he gave me 2 a side and I shot 75 using decade golf , he shot 74 and I took him for $20 cash 💵
    The philosophy works ❤
