Rickie Fowler was supposed to become one of golf’s biggest superstars.
The orange. The flat-brimmed Puma hat. The fearless style. The massive galleries. The close calls. For a generation of golf fans, Rickie Fowler wasn’t just another player—he helped make golf feel young, different, and cool.
But behind the orange phenomenon is a career filled with incredible highs, painful near-misses, a stunning fall down the world rankings, and one of golf’s most popular comebacks.
In this Gnome Golf documentary, we tell Rickie Fowler’s story through his NINE LIVES.
It begins with a California kid who grew up riding dirt bikes and brought a little motocross attitude with him to the golf course. Then came Oklahoma State, the PGA Tour, orange Sundays, Ryder Cups, and the transformation of Rickie Fowler into one of the most recognizable golfers in the world.
But expectations came with fame.
In 2014, Fowler finished inside the top five at all four major championships—putting himself in extraordinarily rare company—but couldn’t win one.
Then came the word that followed him into The Players Championship:
“Overrated.”
Rickie’s response?
Win.
But the major championship heartbreak wasn’t finished. At the 2018 Masters, Fowler came within one shot of a Green Jacket.
And then everything began to unravel.
His swing changed. His results disappeared. The victories stopped. A golfer who had once climbed to No. 4 in the world eventually fell all the way to No. 185.
For some players, that would have been the end of the story.
For Rickie Fowler…
it was just another life.
In 2023, Fowler came roaring back. He shot a historic 62 at the U.S. Open, found himself in contention for another major, and weeks later finally ended a four-year PGA Tour winless drought at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Now comes Life Nine.
And we still don’t know how it ends.
