Professional golf is heading back to the Fleurieu this October, with four days of competition, local wine and family-friendly entertainment coming to Willunga Golf Course.
Players Series South Australia will return from Thursday, October 22nd to Sunday, October 25th, bringing some of Australia’s emerging golf talent to McLaren Vale for the fourth time.
And while there’s a $200,000 prize purse on the line, you don’t have to be a golf obsessive to make a day of it.
Entry and parking are free across the four-day event, with the tournament set to combine professional sport with the food, wine and laid-back coastal lifestyle the Fleurieu is known for.
The Willunga event is part of the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia and WPGA Tour of Australasia schedules, and will kick off a new season for the Players Series.
The tournament has a format that makes it a little different from a traditional professional golf event, with men and women competing in the same field for the same trophy and share of the prize money.
There will also be separate junior and all-abilities competitions.
Former Australian international cricketer and South Australian media personality Greg Blewett will return as host, while local golfers including Lachlan Barker, Jak Carter and Kristalle Blum will be hoping to claim a win on home soil.
Defending champion Matías Sánchez has also entered the tournament, putting him in the running to become the first golfer to successfully defend a Players Series title.

The event has already produced a pretty impressive South Australian success story.
Austin Bautista won the inaugural South Australian tournament in 2023, before local golfer Jack Buchanan took the title in 2024. That victory helped propel Buchanan onto the DP World Tour, where he is now competing internationally.
For spectators, though, the tournament is about more than following the leaderboard.
A Tournament Village will bring local McLaren Vale food and wine to the course, with Hither & Yon pouring a selection of its wines throughout the weekend.
Families can also make the most of the event on Saturday and Sunday, when free activities will run from 11am to 3pm. There’ll be golf activations, mini putt, a jumping castle and face painting, giving kids plenty to do while the professionals take on the course.
With Willunga just 40 minutes south of Adelaide, the event could also make an easy excuse for a Fleurieu day trip, particularly for anyone keen to pair a few hours of golf with a winery stop, lunch or a drive towards the coast.

PGA of Australia General Manager of Tournaments & Global Tour Relationships Nick Dastey said, “We’re delighted to be returning to Willunga for another year with Players Series South Australia and continuing our partnership with a great South Australian in Greg Blewett as host.
“We’ve seen three editions so far at Willunga which has quickly established itself as a favourite stop on the Tour for our players.”
WPGA Tour of Australasia Chief Executive Officer Karen Lunn added, “The Players Series has become one of the standout concepts on our schedule and we’re excited to return to Willunga to continue our 2026 season alongside the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia.
“The Fleurieu Peninsula provides a fantastic setting for our players, while the mixed-field format continues to showcase the very best of men’s and women’s professional golf competing together. We’re looking forward to another great week for our members and for golf fans across South Australia.”
