WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (September 20, 2026) – The Tufts University men’s golf team capped off the 54-hole Williams College Fall Invitational at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, MA with a t-sixth place team finish out of 17 teams. JP Noone had a weekend to be proud of in which he fell just short of his first career individual event victory after falling in a playoff against Andre Zhang from Amherst College.
JP Noone captured second place individually after Zhang took advantage of the playoff hole. Noone started the morning on the seventh hole due to the shotgun start and was focused from his first tee shot, recording five straight par or better holes with a birdie on the eighth. The Weston native responded to a bogey on the 12th with two birdies on consecutive holes. Noone entered the final stretch with a solid lead in first, but four bogeys in his final five holes made him finish two strokes above par in his final way through. Noone stayed composed throughout the entirety of the long event and represented the Jumbos with class!
After ending day one tied for 10th individually, Brendan Roy shot a 10 over par score of 81 to end the invitational tied for 20th individually. Roy began with a birdie on his first hole, but four double bogeys on the day hurt his final stroke total. The senior collected three birdies in his final 18 holes.
Jason Zawtocki entered the third round in 37th place individually and climbed up nine spots to finish tied for 28th with a seven over par score of 78 in the last round. Zawtocki started on hole number eight and earned seven par or better marks in his first nine holes with a birdie on the 14th. The sophomore ended with two birdies on the day and nine total throughout the three rounds.
Achal Agnihotri moved up four spots from yesterday to finish tied for 56th individually with an eight over par stroke total of 79 in today’s round. The first year put together a hot start, carding four straight par or better holes with a birdie on his second hole to open the final 18. Agnihotri notched two birdies on the day as well to finish off his first career event with the Jumbos.
William Ainsworth shot 10 over par in the final round to finish tied for 62nd place individually out of 89 golfers. Ainsworth opened with two straight pars and a birdie in his first four holes before a double bogey and three more bogeys halted his momentum. The junior was the third Jumbo to earn exactly two birdies in the third and final round.
The Jumbos finished above five NESCAC opponents including Wesleyan, Bates, Bowdoin, Hamilton, and hosts Williams. Tufts tied with Middlebury, while Amherst and Trinity (Conn.) were the lone NESCAC programs to end the event above the Jumbos.
The Jumbos return to action next weekend as they will compete in the Bowdoin College Invitational at Brunswick Golf Club in Brunswick, ME.
