Some of the best women golfers in the world will compete in Northwest Arkansas next week as the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G returns to Rogers.
The tournament is part of the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour and will take place Sept. 25-27 at Pinnacle Country Club.
Pinnacle Country Club has hosted the tournament for 20 years.
A field of 144 professional women golfers will compete for a $3 million purse.
Organizers said the tournament could bring more customers to local businesses as visitors spend time in the region.
“They’re staying in our hotels, they’re eating in our restaurants, they’re playing on our golf courses. But it goes far beyond that. They’re going out into our community; they are experiencing everything that we love about NWA,” said Ross Phillips, chief operating officer of the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce.
Phillips estimates the championship generated between $15 million and $20 million in economic impact for the region last year.
Ticket information is available on the tournament’s website.
