In episode 3 of EAST, Harry Bryant tests boards from Chris Christenson, Will Solly, Christian Fletcher & Steve Boysen, and Trevor Gordon.
In this excerpt, you get an insight into the mind of Trevor Gordon, who upon request, made Harry one of his Flathead Fishes, which he dubbed the WAKE — a 5’4” x 20 ⅛” x 2 ⅜” quad — which the surfer-shaper rides brilliantly at J-Bay and Rincon.
We actually requested Trevor make Harry the flathead fish, in a case of the tail wagging the dog, so we’ll see if we stitched him up in due course.
Trevor’s caveat? “It’s made for Rincon, going down the line and not cutbacks. Basically just trying to go as fast as you can.”
With its almost parallel rails, square nose, and hollowed-out bottom contours, this board evoked the strongest emotional response from Harry, mostly in the form of disgust.
“I don’t even know a condition in the world that would suit this thing,” says Haz. “It’s the one board I don’t even want to be seen walking down to the beach with.”
poor guy was holding back tears the whole time
My benis is so harg
For someone surfing a quiver of exclusively alternative boards in this series, he’s been pretty picky when it comes to the aesthetics of alternative boards!
Dude was getting cooked 😭
"I don't want to be seen walking down the beach paddling out on that.! WTF! That's the dopest looking board there. Everything else is standard. Bryant's attitude is pedestrian.
Feel like Harry might have missed the point that these are supposed to be alternative craft and therefore will look unusual?
