As a guy that has the now previous gen version of ZXi5s, hard to believe they could improve them that much. One suggestion for the visual representation of the robot data is to have the graphs on the same y-axis. The way the data is presented for old vs. new on ZXi5 specifically, the graphs distort the distance when in reality they basically went the same distance albeit better dispersion for new gen. Great content as always though fellas
Love ya'all's reviews. I agree with the other comment. The grid lines don't line up on the y-axis, it would be nice if they did for visual comparison. That said, love the depth you guys go into with the comparisons, the numbers, and the commentary. Thanks!
Why not put a small pad/cushion on the backside of your ledge to avoid that ball "clack" after the ball rolls back? I think it would improve the auditory experience for your viewers
Great content guys, keep it coming. That being said I love my Srixon’s but who needs a 200 yard 7 iron.
What do you think about the combo on the zxi5+ 5/6 and zxi7 7/pw? Maybe 1 degree week on the zxi5+.
Looks like we need a comparison between the new zxi5 vs the cobra 3DP X
What % of normal humans getting fit hit a 210yd 7 iron?
Maybe you guys could back off the swing speed ….. at least a little?
Fun to watch, but hard to watch at the same time…
I hit my 7 iron around 160, & I’m the long guy in my circle…..
What about the new MB?
Can we get a head to head between the srixon zxi5,zxi7 vs the callaway xforged max, xforged range? Would be really interesting, pure forging vs iforged and a little trickery in the zxi5. tri sole vs v sole. Feel, spin, launch, dispersion. cheers guys. great channel.
Did the bounce on the ZXi7 iron change from the previous model?
If I'm on ZXi4 do I change for the feel? Will I lose distance and forgiveness?
ZXiR was released & now 5+
What’s the difference ?
Could you blend the Zx5i (5-7i) and Zx7 (8i – PW)?
I've been waiting for this review. The zxi7 and 5 strike data is pretty amazing. My only gripe with Srixon (and probably other brands as well) is the loft gapping they use. It makes no sense to have 5 degree gaps in the short irons and 3 degree gaps on the longer irons. It should be the opposite– tighter gapping on the shorter irons and wider gapping on the longer irons because gapping tends to overlap more in the longer irons while you want more precise gapping with the short irons. Why they don't use 4* gaps from PW to 4i for zxi7/5 is beyond me. It would make blending easier as well.
That ZXi7 did amazing for how necky those were. Most the PGA pros split between ZXi5/7 at the 5 and 6 irons.
Pictures of the new blades, ZXiMB, are out on the internet with a supposed early 2026 release.
When is the robot test?
Some legitimate improvements – thanks, guys. I currently game the Zx5, MkII. Do you think there is enough material improvement to warrant a closer look? I am a solid ball striker but a bit steep at the ball and a lower than ideal flight. I have a low 80s swing speed for the 7-iron but can still carry it 155 (maxed at 160). Peak height is in the 80s and low 40s descent angle.
Interesting Golf Iron Manufacturer Commercial Tricks – they basically sell you a game improvement Cavity Back 5 or 6 iron with a 7 iron label and claim that their irons play longer than others. That’s literally a Marketing CHEATING.
“29.5 degree 7 iron” oh that 7 iron gives me 1 or 2 club distance advantage than my current set ! I’m changing my set…. I now hit my 7 iron 200 yards like my old 5 iron!
WRONG!
One can see on the video that he is making a 5 iron swing on a 7 iron labeled club.
That’s the cold reality.
The zxi5+ vs. the zxi5 sounds like a comparison between the Mizuno JPX vs. the JPX Hot Metal
Have the previous gen ZXi7, my misses are generally in the high heel and they go the same distance just very slightly less spin. Will never take them out the bag until no grooves left
To me the looks of the new ZXi7 are much better than the old model. I'm playing T150 irons most of my rounds. Chose those because of the tight dispersion from your robot testing and the loft progression. Looks like the new ZXi7 is even tighter; impressive. If only I could swing a bit more like a robot. At least it's good to know it's not the equipment.
It would be nice to have someone swing and that was more average speed versus a high-end swing. See some ice swing at this level. It really turn off on these videos cause it’s meaningless to the average golfer.
KBS Tour 120 stiff shaft?
Roughly 23% for BOTH the 7 and the 5 for dispersion…. Thats WILD. And incredible! Definitely not a coincidence… Great data here guys!!!
Man i'm bummed I bought the i4's 3 months ago. had I known I would have waited of the new 5's or 5+'s. I will need to go do another fitting. The reality is the last models were fantastic and not the end o f the world
I have the original ZX irons. I initially bought 5-PW in ZX5, ZX 4H and Cleveland RTX 48/52/56/60. I found transition from PW to the 48 and 52 on full shots didn't really work for me, so I got rid of the 48 & 52 and bought the ZX7 PW (bent to 45) and AW (bent to 50). This works so much better and the AW is my favorite club; I hit so many greens with it. Have changed wedges to Bettinardi 54 and 58 with KBS Hi Rev 2 shafts which has kept my gaps similar. I started struggling with the 5 iron so swapped that out with the ZXi 5H and replace the OG ZX 4H with the ZXi 4H. Happy with all my gaps, but miss the 5 iron for low punch shots from the trees – I now use the 6i.
Really excited with the ZX5+ as I feel I can now combo all three models:
ZXi 4H
ZXi5+: 5 & 6 irons
ZXi5: 7-9 irons
ZXi7: PW & AW
ehhh, you guys are really doing a disservice to all of us by not lining up the graphs (7:54).
Too many clubs
Busy. I know they're excellent but still a little too busy looking. Not really important but kinda is
I would be concerned on spin at 80 mph
I am really curious to see a comparison between the two Japanese iron companies who are both know for feel. Please do a head to head of the Mizuno Pro M15 irons versus the Srixon ZXi5 irons.
Thank you,
Joe
if you're going to look at impact location, spin, etc in detail, you can't use the TM4 indoors….it sucks compared to TMiO (or GCQuad) for these parameters indoors, ESPECIALLY on clubs with gear effect (woods).
Not really unbelievable , just an evolution. That’s what Srixon do.
Quite believable actually.
On screen data indicates almost 66 degrees in dynamic lie, and 7 iron is usually 62 or 63 degrees of lie. How does that affect ball flight?
Being in the market for a new set of players cavity back irons, I found it interesting watching the Mizuno S4 video then this, side by side, and the numbers of the ZXi7 vs the S4 were very similar. The S4 has a 34* 7 iron and the ZXi7 is a 32* 7 iron and has arguably more help and more tech, yet ball speed, carry launch, all almost exact between the 2. Why do you think that is?
Please consider doing a full comparison and gapping potentials for the new ZXi5, ZXi5+, ZXi7 and the 2026 ZXi7 release! Robot testing results would be awesome too! Thanks 🙏🏻
Really appreciate the depth of this review, especially the robot data and your engagement in the comments. I currently play ZXi4 5–6 (6 bent 1° weak), ZXi5 7–8 (8 bent 1° weak), and ZXi7 9–PW. My ZXi4 6 is unusually hot, sometimes compressing the gap to my 5 while widening the gap to my 7. Based on your testing, would ZXi5+ 5, ZXi5 6–8, and ZXi7 9–PW be a logical next-generation blend, or would you transition to ZXi7 at the 8? Also, are you planning a similar comparison between the previous and new ZXiU?
The graphs for old and new ZXI 5 are slightly dishonest to the old version. I see no need to change to new clubs, based on those graphics. My swing is not robot like with my 20 HC. I trust there is larger inaccuracy in my swing day to day and through out my round, than the robot data. The old ZXI 5 are just great, even with off centre hits. I will recommend these clubs to every one looking for changes. Even seniors.
What are your thoughts on a 9 handicap blend. Zxi5+ 5 iron, zxi5 6,7,8 & zxi7 9,pw&Aw all lofts set to zxi5.
Play a qi10 tour 21 degree hybrid.
