Great review as usual. Would be really interesting to see the new zxi7 vs ping i240
…so….5+ 'thud'..5 'punchy'…and 7?….'lovely'. Therefore when asking to test new range it's 'I wish to try thudpunchylovely please Mr/Ms Clubfitter'…done. To answer your question, these are the cleanest looking Srixons for some time but like you, the head is too busy for my liking. Have the same feelings towards JPX when both of these would a)suit my ability perfectly and b) feel & perform amazingly…but it's like a mental brick wall I can't get past. I need to force myself to test but the looks keep forcing them down the list. eg Wilson XB, M15, P790/770, Tacomo's tick more boxes for looks. It's also why whatever the latest 'Gen' PXG irons are, they continue to be low on the list. I am fairy new golfer, playing of 15 Where my iron play is the ”best” aspect of my game, i got 92 mph 7 iron speed, and does not need extra help with launch or distance, would the 7 ever be an option or do i Have to look for distance iron?
I was close to buying the ZX7s back in 2024. Went with the JPX 923 Forged in the end as it came down to feel and consistency. The 923 was slightly ahead for me. The price point was very attractive on the Srixons. The Wilson CBs were 3rd out of the bunch I tested. Still gaming the 923s but got very tempted to look at the XBs and the M-15s as I am in my mid 50s and wondering if I may need a little help. Your Vlogs dont help!!!🙂
The V sole on dry hard fairways can be a problem if not steep enough. Otherwise, they are great irons. I also think they lack shelf appeal. Not ugly, but not a Titleist or Mizuno.
The difference between the heatmaps of both new ZXi7 and ZXi5 is considerable compared to the older versions. In fact the new ZXi7 seems to have a larger sweet spot than the old ZXi5, especially off the toe. Which is very impressive.
As always amazing video. Would love to see zxi5/zxi7 video for those of us looking at a potential combo. I would be really interested in the performance and forgiveness to see how well they could blend together.
