Trump Doonbeg’s Head Greenkeeper ready to show his work off to the world

THE golf course superintendent at Trump Doonbeg has said the Irish Open is the easiest week for his team, with all the hard work now done on the resort’s championship golf course

Head Greenkeeper and Golf Course Superintendent Scott Marr leads a team of 33 employees at the Doonbeg golf resort who maintain the golf course on a daily basis 365 days of the year, and are out on the course at the crack of dawn in preparation for golf.

“We start at around six o’clock in the morning, and finish at two o’clock in the afternoon. So we are generally in, and in front of play, and we do all the maintenance in front of the play.”

Mr Marr has been working at Trump Doonbeg for 12 years, and he says hosting a professional tournament such as the Irish Open is the pinnacle of his career so far.
