THE LIONS ARE PLANNING SOMETHING — And It’s Bigger Than You Think

The Detroit Lions have one open roster spot remaining heading into Week 1, and while much of the conversation has centered around adding another wide receiver, I believe Brad Holmes could have something very different in mind.
In this video, we break down Detroit’s latest roster moves, including the promotion of Joe Bachie, the return of Seth McLaughlin and Jabari Small to the practice squad, and Mason Miller’s move to the practice squad injured list.
More importantly, we examine why the Lions’ biggest need may actually be along the offensive line — specifically at center.
With Cade Mays on Reserve/Injured, Mason Miller also dealing with an injury, and Juice Scruggs currently handling the starting center responsibilities, Detroit’s depth at one of the most important positions protecting Jared Goff deserves a much closer look.
Could Seth McLaughlin be elevated for Week 1? Could Elijah Klein become the final addition to the 53-man roster? Could Brad Holmes bring in an outside offensive lineman? Or will Detroit simply keep the final roster spot open and preserve flexibility?
And what does all of this mean for Tom Kennedy and the Lions’ wide receiver room?
I’ll break down the transactions, the roster math, the special teams considerations, the offensive-line situation, and the short turnaround before Detroit travels to Buffalo for Thursday Night Football.
This is my prediction — and I’m putting it on the record. If Brad Holmes goes in a different direction, I’ll own it.
Who do YOU think gets the final roster spot?
Tom Kennedy? Seth McLaughlin? Elijah Klein? An outside addition? Or does Brad Holmes leave the spot open?
