Can a cheap £5 tool actually bring worn-out golf club grooves back to life? In this video, I test a budget Amazon golf groove sharpener on my decade-old Titleist Vokey SM6 wedge to see whether a simple regrooving tool can improve my old wedge’s spin rate.
Using my FlightScope Mevo Gen 2 launch monitor, I captured baseline data with Titleist RCT golf balls before and after sharpening to see whether the tool and hard work actually increase spin.

it's costing you a lot more balls though… sharpened grooves seem to take bites out of your fresh ball at each shot (in my experience)
Aren't these things the same as sheet metal etching tools?
You're more than likely breaking the rules after using a groove sharpening tool as it will probably exceed the limits of grove standards.
Using the tool squares to grooves aswell. Turning them into SM 1-4 models before the new regulations. I've played vokeys since they came out. The original Spin Milled use to cut a cut with 2-3 grooves with 1 swing. Really cut too, like time for a new ball cut. Note my swing speed was around 125-130mph driver back then but, The spin generated would tear a ball 10-25ft with a full 56 or 52 and ruin the ball. Needless to say, you learnt to hit 3/4 only with wedges. The spin around the chip and pitch shots was where you could really notice it though. Lovely check and release stuff. Or 1 hop and a stop pitch shots.
These sharpeners do to same. It a sharpener yes, but the real change is the SHAPE of the edge you create.
Don't take my word, Cleveland CG12 model and Vokey up to SM4 models were the absolute BEASTS of the day
