Greg Norman is to design a new golf links on the west coast of Clare.
Australian golfer Greg Norman arrived by helicopter to the seaside village of Doonbeg. The two time major winner, known as the great white shark, will design a championship golf course stretching along one and a half miles of Atlantic coastline. The Greg Norman led golf course design company has created acclaimed courses in more than a dozen countries. He describes Doonbeg as a prize links site and a dream location for both golfers and course architects. Mother nature has already done most of the work.
The ambitious development will feature an 18 hole golf course, a clubhouse, a four star hotel, a conference centre, and a range of holiday and residential properties.
Doug Barton of Landmark National Developers says the company came to Ireland with a clear goal, to build a great golf course that will rank among the world’s finest.

Golf is already one of Ireland’s strongest tourism attractions, but the involvement of a figure of Greg Norman’s stature is expected to draw even greater international attention. Golfers are likely to be attracted to Doonbeg, eager to experience a course designed by one of the most celebrated names in the game.
