A Polo man died from injuries suffered in an early Thursday morning golf cart crash, an Ogle County Sheriff’s Office news release said.
Richard S. Knutson, 46, of Polo, was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Katharine Hospital in Dixon after the golf cart, traveling west on West Goose Hollow Road near the intersection of North Summer Hill Road, entered the ditch and struck a concrete culvert. Knutson, who was the driver, was ejected from the golf cart, according to the release.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene at 1:05 a.m.
Life-saving measures were attempted on scene. Knutson was transported to OSF Saint Katharine Hospital in Dixon, where he was pronounced dead.
The Mt. Morris Police Department and Polo Fire/EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
