South Surrey-based golfers punch their ticket to PGA Scramble National Final

A foursome of local golfers who play out of South Surrey’s Morgan Creek Golf Course have secured a spot in the PGA Scramble National Final after winning the British Columbia Regional Final at Tobiano Golf Course in Kamloops.
Surrey’s Ryan O’Shea and Jordan Kissock, Langley’s Dustin Schroer and Chilliwack golfer Drew St. Cyr were paired with Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course PGA of Canada pro Todd Tweedy at Tobiano, where they punched their ticket to the final, which will be held at the prestigious Cabot Cape Breton in Nova Scotia Oct. 3-7.
O’Shea said he and his foursome of friends have known each other and golfed together for years, and have tried to qualify for the national event before. This year, they succeeded.
“Only two teams from qualify. So, it’s actually interesting, because there’s there’s 13,000 golfers and 3,000 groups from across the country try to get to the national final, and only 20 teams qualify,” said O’Shea.
Being paired with a pro at Tobiano also didn’t hurt, O’Shea continued.
“(Tweedy) was a great addition to our team. Not only was he a good golfer, but (he was) really easy to get along with and fit seamlessly into our group,” O’Shea said, noting that they knew they had a good round, but had to wait until dinner and announcements before they found out they were the regional final winners.
“We were all elated! We’re really looking forward to heading to Nova Scotia. I mean, Cabot Cliffs — (Cabot) Cliffs and (Cabot) Links, where we’re going to play — are the Number One and Two best courses in the country. And Cabot Cliffs is actually ranked 14th in the world.”
While they’re excited for the golf, the team is equally excited about the experience beyond the competition, O’Shea shared.
“It’s going to be really exciting five days of golf. But it’s also going to be really fun just to connect with the other 20 groups from across Canada who earned their spots,” said O’Shea. “It’ll be competitive golf, but there’s also going to be a lot of fun and just connecting with those other groups from across the country.
“The event at Tobiano was exceptionally well organized, and the golf course and setting made for a fantastic championship experience. From the time we arrived, you could tell how much work had gone into making the event special for the golfers.”
O’Shea said he and his foursome are looking forward to sharing the Cabot experience with Tweedy, and emphasized they all understand scramble golf is a team game.
He and the team also acknowledged the organizations and partners that make the PGA Scramble possible.
“We’d also like to recognize the PGA of Canada, BMW and all of the sponsors and partners who make the PGA Scramble possible. Events like this take an enormous amount of work and support behind the scenes.”
In 2026, the PGA Scramble Presented by BMW featured more than 190 local qualifying events from coast to coast.
