My grandad was a bookie, and he rubbed his hands when a 'serial loser' got the ear of his mates, {{enter Phil Mickelson}} Golf has lost ground on other sports as a result of LIV and some high profile behaviour issues.
And Jimmy's got 10 years on you Pete, so you have time! Haha
🎶🎶 I will rememmmmber youuuu, will you rememmmmber meee?🎶🎶
Love David's Titleist cup 😂
Honestly, YouTube Golf gets more views than the PGA Tour and LIV Golf combined, which I think says a lot about where golf is heading.
In my opinion, the only thing that really makes sense for LIV now is to transition into some sort of duels-focused format, similar to what they were experimenting with. It wouldn’t be a traditional tour, but the players could still make a serious amount of money if the purses were high.
If George Bryan and Wesley Bryan can build a YouTube Golf tour and play for something like $1m in Las Vegas, then surely players like Ian Poulter, Sergio, Dustin Johnson and the other big LIV names could do something similar. They’d still be able to earn huge purses, while creating something that actually fits how people consume golf today.
The obvious downside is that they’d lose access to regular events and potentially some majors, although some of those players have lifetime exemptions or could still receive invitations.
But even with that trade-off, I think it would be a much more interesting and influential way for LIV to shape the future of golf than trying to compete directly with the PGA Tour in its current format.
The Anaconda bunker. Fine layout CH.
Rory and Scotty saved gilf
Peter Finch is one of my top two favorite YouTube golfers but I can't support the take you have on the good good issue. To even bring up domestic violence is ridiculous when you're talking about a golf driver commercial. You blow it up into something it isn't and then criticize the people that did it for your thoughts. Frankly I find it embarrassing but I guess you don't. Horrible take. Probably should have left that one alone
I enjoy Liv Golf, I have no problem with it. It just comes down to supply and demand and profits… Like everything in Slavelandia.
Also, nice to see Pete back. Really enjoying the talk in between the 500 advert breaks! Every other syllable is another break. I give up.
LIVs deathbnail is not having the backing to scare the PGA lawyers, the product was just getting good huge crowds in Indiana. But now they have lost Asia tour it’s game over, DP Tour reinstating fines. But Brysons not paying any fines to the PGA. The biggest change is If LIV folds then the PgA tour players will have there equity pulled prizes pulled competition made everyone richer as competition scared the PGA. Now they realise they went too far.
Yeh only people losing if LIV can’t sustain a legitimate tour it hurts all
Players.
I don't mind Liv but the funding is unsustainable. I think it's done.
Make it make sense… Stomping down the tall grass to build a stance = penalty. Removing a leaf from behind your ball in that same tall grass = no penalty. Bend a branch to stand over the ball = no penalty. Accidentally break that branch = penalty. Accidentally touch the sand with your club (nowhere near your ball) while stepping into a bunker = penalty. dig the soles of your shoes into that bunker until you're standing on bedrock = no penalty.
The great thing Liv had was a much better standard broadcast a highlights package, and that will most certainly be missed
19:24 The reason why American pro leagues like the NFL can move their teams around is because the entire country watches pro football and most cities are happy to receive a team that transfers to them. For example, the Baltimore Colts moved to Indianapolis. Later, the Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore to become the Ravens and filling a hole in Baltimore.
The other reason can have to do with a city (and/or its residents) not wanting to pay for a new stadium with tax money, so the team moves to one more amenable, e.g., Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas, San Diego Chargers to LA.
Great video!
Living in Michigan thanx for the clarification 🎉😂
A Match Play centric tour would have been more successful, even the PGA is trying to get back to match play when they revamp the playoffs, it's my preferred way to watch golf outside of majors and YT golf has shown how popular it actually is. Hell, I would love the PGA Championship to be a match play major, give it some relevancy.
too many stupid golf rules are spoiling the game for average players and there is a complete lack of common sense in golf?
With regard to the demise of the LIV golf League, I don't think that we've heard the last of them yet. Scott O'Niel and his two Wall Street whiz kids will certainly find additional investors. The real question remains how far forward will they be able to fund their operations. If they can't fund at least 2 years the players will likely scamper. The other X factor is the very real fractur of the PGA Tour under the dubious leadership of that idiot Brian Rolapp. The rank and file of the PGA Tour hate him and the new two-tiered system. Combined with the fact that there are fewer and fewer spots on the PGA Tour for anybody but the elite players. The number of PGA Tour cards on offer to the DP World Tour is also about to shrink too. I could see the DP World tour maybe wanting to buy into LIV as a way to combat the shrinking size of the top tier of the PGA Tour. Concerning the dumpster fire known as Michigan, I'm disappointed that Michigan has not been canceled as they have been problematic for many years now. Please reconsider your ill-conceived decision and proceed with the cancelation.
My favorite part of LIV is Arlo White at the microphone. Dude is a joy to listen to.
To be required to pay a fine is ridiculous. Fines are associated with the commission of a crime. The guys that decided to take another job didn’t commit a crime. Sheesh. Requalify, yes. You gave up your tour card and if you want to get back on the tour, you have to qualify like anyone else, but pay a “criminal penalty”, ridiculous. It’s extortion on the part of the PGA (no surprise) and the DPWT (subservient cuck of the PGAT).
19:28 we've been wondering this for a long time in America as well. But the answer is to the billionaire owners, moving to a bigger market = more money, allegedly
The good good ad, was poorly orchestrated at best, deserving back lash. If it was one of the good good guys, it would still be a shit ad.
God …the guy on the right is a real fun sponge… obviously hates LIV…
I like all golf and genuinely thought there was a place for a shotgun start tournament…it's great …watch a whole round in about 4-5 hour with excitement all the way….
Personally I think it's just a shame that a tour has failed 😢
Sorry lads but I'm so shite at golf that i could go back 30 years and strife for the next 30 years and still not break 80 let alone 70.😢😢
Definitely take the deal 😅
For the record, Golf Girl Games started before Good Good Girls so they deserve alot of credit for giving exposure to and promoting women's golf. Both Marissa and Alexis actually started there. Golf Girl Games didnt have the support of an already established group like Good Good
I think they should have embraced being an exhibition league and have the teams event essentially play as a Ryder Cup every game with 2 teams playing against each other. You may have had people car about teams then, like who is partnering up this week and who are they playing? Who is playing who in the match play etc. I think that could have worked.
Having moved from NYC to Philadelphia in 1999, the first thing that hits you driving around is everybody, from kids in the street to old ladies in the shops, is wearing Eagles gear. When they lost in the semifinals a couple years in a row they added security fences on the bridges to prevent jumpers. It's one of the things I liked about Philly, even though as a New Yorker I hated every team, you had to appreciate just how rabid a fan base they have. If the Eagles even hinted they were leaving the city the resulting bedlam would be on a Biblical scale.
There was nothing ever wrong with LIV and media like yourselves, save from Kieran, did nothing but dig at it. Tough to succeed when the media is against you.
The team aspect works. But does take time. LIV should embrace the home course idea.
La Sasso winning got him much needed OWGR points. Not useless.
This must have been before the Rolapp presser.
Can't wait til next week's podcast to hear your thoughts on Good Good merch being pulled from retail stores and the PGA tour pulling the sponsorship of the tournament.
guys, i want to be a fan, but come on, you got the guy hating liv every chance he gets like his wife left him for liv or something, then let's stop pretending like live failed on its own when pga was doing the best they can to prevent anything good from happening to liv, with tv deals and player bans. lastly, don't agree with the cancel culture on the good good comercial thing, if this commercial is crossing the line, then every movie/tv shows out there should never ever harm a women in anyway right? no , its literally a skit, you shouldn't be canceled for a fun skit.
Just went to indy last weekend, and honestly really enjoyed it. Golf was good, merch shop was fully stocked and on par with other events… music was a fun change 🤷🏻♂️ i dont get the hate honestly.
The Good Good thing is such an overreaction. It's a horror skit. Nobody would care if that same scene was in a scary movie. No one says horror movies promote violence against women.
Her name is Alexis! It would take 30 seconds of prep and this stuff matters.
It's crazy to me that the PGA tour is making guys pay fines at all. Players should be able to go play on any tour they want and their ability should dictate rather or not they are able to play on each tour. Charging Rahm a $25 million "fine" is absolutely bonkers!
RE: the Good Good ad, St. Andre absolutely could have made that skit work and be funny, even if it was Hannah getting shoved. Still would have been a terrible ad, though, as it implies the product it's trying to sell is basically the One Ring as a golf club.
Is the Rahm or Rick in the background of the thumbnail? 😂
Kind of loved how they kept a straight face talking about that good good advert…
Lovely to see you and JB this morning Pete! Weather was horrendous but 9 holes better than no holes. Great match. High quality scoring….
Just on the Good Good ad, it was a bad ad and some poor judgement on both sides and agree just putting your hand up and admitting they got it wrong was all it needed, the fall out beyond that I think was a bit much.
i believe Peter will be in Australia in October, have you announced this yet?
