Guy puts the new TaylorMade Hi-Toe 5 wedges to the test to see what’s changed, how they perform around the greens, and whether they deserve a spot in your golf bag.
From spin and feel to versatility and forgiveness, here’s everything you need to know about TaylorMade’s latest Hi-Toe wedge.
Welcome to H.I.T Golf Reviews – the home of honest, independent and trustworthy golf equipment reviews.
If you want straight-talking advice on drivers, irons, wedges, putters, golf balls and golf tech, you’re in the right place. Every review is based on proper testing, launch monitor data and real on-course experience – not marketing slides.
We test all the big names (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Mizuno, Cobra and more) plus the direct-to-consumer brands you’re starting to hear about. New vs old, budget vs premium, “forgiving” vs “players” – we put them head-to-head so you can see what actually performs.
Our testing is built around launch monitor data (GCQuad) and real-world shots, but we always explain the numbers in normal-golfer language. No fluff, no hidden agendas – just whether a club will help your game or not.
Whether you’re:
buying your first proper set,
a mid-handicapper looking for more forgiveness, or
a low-handicap player chasing that perfect combo of feel and distance,
H.I.T is here to help you pick the right gear for your swing, not just the newest thing on the shelf.
Why H.I.T exists:
To cut through the hype.
To give golfers the truth.
To save you time, money and a few golf balls.
To make the game a bit easier – and more fun.

It’s gonna take a lot to get my Vokey out of my hand.
Rick pulled a sicky once he heard it was a wedge review! 😂
I play on a links course, I carry and 8degree, 10deg & a 12 deg, giving me options, depending on the lie.
My cbz with kbs hi rev 2.0 spin at over 10k
CLEVLAND IS THE BEST RN, i have two vokeys on clevland and its on fire
Use MacGregor Tourney forged wedges 52 , 56 , and 60 all for $179 and they have full face grooves .
I love my 54 degree Hi-Toe 4. Great feel and weight
I wouldn’t want to hit that
I like high toe wedges but I want full face grooves
Looks are 10 out of 10
14 degree bounce is a carbon copy of the vokey K grind 14 degree bounce. Titleist even brand it as “the ultimate bunker club”. Another review on this channel with a bias for Taylor made and against Titleist
TBF, most new wedges are loaded with spin.
I hope Guy has had a raise recently. He has upped his content game.
I do like the painted bottom groove, really frames the ball well.
I genuinely love my hi-toe wedges, and switched from vokey, but I’m playing the Gen 3. I’ll be staying in the hi-toe until some major advancement happens in wedges.
Yep! Those are my next wedges! Out with the Vokeys 👍 That Bronze color is definitely my bag. 😄 And, they are Absolutely Gorgeous!
You know you've made it on YT when you have the blue fluorescent teeth. Congrats Guy
Love my Hi-Toe wedges! When I started out (5 years ago) I often hit underneath the ball in thick rough. The Hi-Toe helped me make atleast decent contact.
"It's not gone super close". Brother you're in the cabbage, great result.
We need a comparison video of the new hi toe/ rtz2/ Callaway wedges!
Great great review! I switched from Vokey to the RTZ 50 MID and 56 ADAPT. Forged absolutely love them! The raw face of the MG5 and High Toe turned me off. Some say gives more spin…some say the rust hinders groove performance over time. Either way some great products for everyone coming out! Keep up the great work Guy!
7:10 ok this was impressive! 5 balls chipped up into your hand with no errors. If only your approach game were this good! Jk of course, it’s better than mine
Love your reviews, Guy. Your demonstrable experience and knowledge of golf gear through the years adds weight to the review I reckon.
I guess im in the minority, those are some of the ugliest wedges ive seen. If they perform though it dont matter.
Cleveland is the king of wedges
Maybe you could show Rick how to use them ?
I am looking at replacing my Mizuno wedges and I think these are what I want. To me it makes sense to have full face grooves on a 58/60 degree because we open the face a lot. I’m not a tour pro and miss to the wrong side of the green too often so flop shots are a must.
Vokey have the best brand awareness and also the most loft, lie and grind options. But Cleveland are probably the best, and cheaper.
Did anyone else have to pause after 6:30 😂
I play wedges that match my irons except for the LW.
Very real video, strongly considering the 60 with the 14 degrees
I only recently found your channel and enjoying it very much. I'm also northern, which helps😊. One thing I would really appreciate in new club reviews is a similar club from around 10yrs ago, because as is always the way with golf, if you are having a great day, you'd likely hit well with most clubs
T23 ftw
@16:48 Dan Grieve would be proud of that
Well done guy nice little video and relates a lot to normal golfers
I have forged mizuno wedges. Had them in the bag years, only the SM10s came even close to feel for me. Obviously the spin is significantly better on the new wedges but they dont feel as good
When’s the golfing with guy channel, I need at least a weekly video 😂
Please review the new Cleveland RTZ 2's especially the adapt..
