Why Ole Miss Could SHOCK College Football?!? | College Football Series

Ole Miss enters the 2026 season with legitimate playoff expectations, and Neil McCready of Rebels247 breaks down why the Rebels could be one of the SEC’s most dangerous teams. This conversation covers Lane Kiffin’s legacy, Pete Golding’s defensive impact, Trinidad Chambliss, Kewan Lacy, the offensive line, and why Ole Miss is built to shape the College Football Playoff race. The discussion also dives into the SEC’s brutal schedule, the growing importance of 9-3 records, and how conference depth could dramatically impact playoff selection.

  2. Lane Kiffin brings pro style offense and fast up tempo play calling to college football, basically blitzing out defenses by going twice as fast as them. It is no secret what He and Charlie do, they will say it. According to many journalists there is no way that any college defense can match this play calling speed of Kiffin/Weis, and the "photographic memory" of Charlie Weis !

  3. I respectfully disagree that Lane won. He had his best team ever with Judkins and Dart and got beat handily; Kiffin saw the writing on the wall, he can not and has not ever beaten Alabama or anyone who is really a good team. He bails to another job before his lack of winning anything big comes to light. It started at TN where he ran his mouth in the media and Spurrier spanked that ass! Kiffin quit after losing six (6) games and yeah one of those games was to Ole Miss (HAHA). So he bailed before he got fired at TN ! Similar thing at Alabama, Kiffin quit before the final exam, yeah Saban fired him however, Kiffin quit on the team first. Here at UM yeah Kiffin made a good showing like a contractor working his first week on a 4 week job that pays 30/30/30/10 draws. He never completes the job !

  4. Hard to shock the college football world when you lose your first game. Big Game, Big Brain Brohm is gonna outcoach Golding. The player skill advantage only slightly (very slightly) favors Ole Miss. Louisville is loaded with talent themselves. The story here is coaching, and quite frankly Brohm has not only the experience, Brohm is a master strategist. Louisville wins a close one.

  5. Ole Miss will shock the world by how many games they lose early and quickly.

As those two brand new OTs Ole Miss will have starting on the OL would be third teamers on any other SEC college football team.

Sure, Lacy had an outstanding running season in 2025. However, that running game was orchestrated by Lane Kiffin.

Today, Lane is orchestrating his infamous running game attack for his new team at LSU. To extend his SEC rushing titles streak from six in a row to seven seven in a row.

While Ole Miss' new running game is being designed by the still very wet behind the ears, John David Parker, along with Frank Wilson, the new Ole Miss running backs coach.

For those of you who don't know, Frank Wilson arrived at Ole Miss after coaching the two previous worse running back seasons ever in LSU history.

Meanwhile, whatever those two piss poor Ole Miss offensive coaches come up with to be Ole Miss' new running game, it still won't be the same running game that only Lane and Lane alone knows how to engineer.

Hence, Ole Miss's running game will not only struggle in 2026 because of the new Ole Miss offensive coaching staff's ineptness at putting together a good running game that will work in the SEC, but also because of those two piss poor OTs Ole Miss has starting for them on their weak and pathetic OL in 2026.

The passing game will be much the same. As that passing game will be created by John David Baker together with his WR coaching staff, putting that passing game together.

Thus, not only is Ole Miss' WRs in 2026, lesser than the 2025 WRs, the passing game as well will also inevitably be significantly lesser, as opposed to last year's passing attack. Because it is being designed and implemented by John David Baker and his WR coaching staff.

Meanwhile, Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis are both hard at work building their new passing game attack for LSU. Which according to Lane's own standards, will easily be one of the best in college football and as it always is.

Moreover, Blake Baker's defense, per man to man, is better than Ole Miss is on defense

Not to mention that Ole Miss finished overall number 48 in the country in total defense. While, LSU, on the other hand, finished number 27 in total defense, and despite the fact that LSU, for all intents and purposes, had no offense last year.

Thus, when you add all of these real realities up, it is very clear to see that Ole Miss won't be the same team it was in 2025 and as most Ole Miss fans are assuming. Not even close!

Therefore, Ole Miss won't be the same team it was in 2025. It will be a completely different football team altogether.

Especially because the GOAT of Ole Miss football, Lane Kiffin, is now coaching the LSU Tigers today.
