Only a few years ago, Ryan Gerard was living on tournament alternate lists and rarely knew where he would be playing next. Now he is heading to East Lake as one of the PGA TOUR’s top 30 players.
Missing the TOUR Championship the previous season left Gerard with extra motivation. This time he reached the BMW Championship with his place already secure, completing a season that brings a two-year exemption, access to all four majors and the freedom to build a settled schedule.
Now everybody starts level at East Lake—even if Gerard jokes that Scottie Scheffler deserves a million-shot advantage.
