Isnt ready golf more subjective to the people you are paired with. If im ready to hit but the old geezer behind me is still on his 4th practice swing, i hit and he gets mad so I stop doing it. If your pairings dont care about courtesies or people moving in their swings then its fair game
95% of the time I’m first on the tee, I walk to the tee grab a club (I usually know what I’m hitting in advance) and go
I don’t know what takes everyone else so long.
Only time I don’t do it is matchplay or guys that are very “traditional” and I don’t know them, they like to do winner of previous hole goes first
I’m a ready golfer… except for my aim point routine. Oh, and shooting every tree, bunker, flagstick on every hole to know the distances even though the gps for the course tells me that already…
I was stuck with a random that did this on every hole. It almost turned into a fight, as there was a group of 4 behind us wanting to play through. It was only the 2 of us. The most embarrassed and angry I’ve been on a course. I eventually just played through on my own by not waiting for him on a par 5. I have no idea how it played out behind me after that.
If you’ve played a round solo and saw how much better you played, you become more willing to be a ready golfer in groups
Me too. I’m not good but I won’t hold you up! No practice swings, haven’t looking for a ball since Obama was in office, most putts are gimmies within a 5 foot radius! 😎
I’ve found that many purple who claim to be ready golfers are not, in fact, ready golfers. More like they’ll golf whenever they are ready.
I’ve played twice now with the random old guy (60+) who is excessively ready golf. I don’t think he’s trying to rush everybody else and get out of there early. It’s just he has no hesitation about any of this.
* He will putt out before anybody is ready, sometimes this means going on the green to put before everybody has even hit their approach shot in. I had to have a talk with him about this a couple times.
* He will decide your putt is within the leather and try to send it back to you if you don’t stop him fast enough. Even after you speak up he still might try again.
* He will walk off to the next tee and possibly even tee off before the rest of the group is done putting on the last green. Which means nobody sees where his shot goes so when it’s lost it’s very hard to help.
* I’m honestly surprised he stuck around for the handshake at the end of the round.
Ready golf is fine but if the person furthest away is also ready let them frickin go, have played with so many poor etiquette players lately
