From Tanks to Tees: Dawlish Golf Is Back! – 09/08/26

Today’s Dawlish visit was completely unplanned! I had intended to head over to Shaldon, but when I woke up I simply didn’t fancy it, so I changed plans and decided to have an aimless mooch around Dawlish instead. As it turned out, that was a very good decision, because I discovered that the long-awaited Dawlish Golf Course has finally reopened! I’ve been following the story ever since the old course was dug up to make way for the South West Water works, so it was fantastic to see everything restored and open to the public once again. I was kindly given permission to go in and have a quick look around before the customers arrived, including the Safari Mini Golf course with all its animal features. Along with that lovely surprise, we also check in on Hope the Cygnet, enjoy plenty of trains and viewer submissions, and make the most of a very warm day in Dawlish. A completely unplanned visit that turned into a rather good one!

  2. That was a nice leisurely walk around Dawlish bill, they certainly got stuck in and finished up after the works and disruption. I wonder if that fast accelerating train that you got on, was fitted with motors taken from the confiscated E bikes? 😅

  3. I can assure people that the Dawlish sign will be going back on the safari golf course, I did enquire about it last week. I would like to think that it would be done in flowers , my Nan used to put some of her marigolds in the original sign when it was a putting green. The photographer in the video, is someone who does all the official photography for the town and you’ll always encounter him in his electric wheelchair.
