DeChambeau on LIV Golf’s new investor: “This product is going to be a force for good in the game”

Bryson DeChambeau speaks after Crushers GC produced a remarkable comeback to win the team title at LIV Golf New York, securing their 11th regular-season victory and further strengthening their position as the most successful team in LIV Golf history.

🏆 Crushers started the week with an 11-over opening round and were tied for 11th, but Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri fought their way back to claim another team victory at a brutally demanding Trump National Golf Club Bedminster.

💪 DeChambeau explained why the team element of LIV Golf gives players something to fight for even when their individual tournament has gone wrong.

🗣️ “You’re not just playing for yourself anymore.”

🔥 Crushers have now won 11 regular-season team events, more than any other LIV Golf team. DeChambeau revealed that their success does not surprise him.

💬 “When we built this team back in Boston in 2022, I said to numerous people, we legit could win every week if we just have our B+ to A games.”

⛳ Paul Casey described Bedminster as a “major-level golf course” and believes it was difficult enough this week that a major championship could effectively have been staged there immediately.

📈 Lahiri highlighted the resilience that has defined Crushers throughout their time together. Despite sitting near the bottom of the leaderboard after Thursday, he never believed the team was out of contention.

⭐ DeChambeau also offered huge praise for Jon Rahm and Joaquín Niemann after competing against them for LIV Golf’s individual titles in recent seasons.

🗣️ “Jon and Joaquín have just played better. It’s one of those things that you can get hot, and Jon and Joaco have gotten hot numerous times and numerous years. It’s been nearly impossible to catch them.”

😮 DeChambeau was particularly impressed by Rahm’s extraordinary consistency.

💬 “There’s only been three times he finished outside the top 10… That’s crazy.”

🚨 But one of the biggest subjects of the press conference was the future of LIV Golf following the announcement of a new lead investor.

DeChambeau declined to discuss the mechanics behind the investment but revealed that his conversations have left him optimistic about the direction LIV Golf is heading.

🗣️ “The investor, from the conversations I’ve had, has a new and fresh vision on this product. It won’t be changing too much, but it’ll be changing in the right ways.”

🌍 DeChambeau believes aligning the players behind the project could unlock significant potential for LIV Golf and the wider global game.

💬 “If we’re able to get the players all aligned, which I feel like it’ll happen in some capacity, this is going to be a product that will be a force for good in the game, in the ecosystem.”

🤝 He also addressed the presence of PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan at Bedminster and suggested that LIV Golf could now be moving towards a structure increasingly involving its new investor and the players themselves.

🗣️ “As this transitions over hopefully into the new investor’s hands and into the players’ hands… we really have an opportunity to align a lot of the global incentives.”
