BREAKING: Trump caught inflating his golf score at his own tournament after a player posts the real leaderboard
Trump says he won a golf tournament this weekend with a score so good that professional golfers would struggle to match it. The only problem is the scorecard, which tells a very different story.
The 80-year-old bragged on Truth Social that he won the senior championship at his own Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, with a gross score of 70. On a course where par is 72, that means two under, with a handicap of zero. That is a feat reserved for the highest level of professional golfers on earth. Trump apparently pulled it off at 80, while, in his own words, being “given very little time to practice.”
His explanation for this miracle was simple. “It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t,” he wrote.
The math did not survive contact with reality. A fellow participant, Philip Zamloot, posted video of the leaderboard on Instagram. The next best gross score in the entire field was a 77, seven strokes behind the president. Zamloot himself shot that 77.
Then there is the small matter of the actual winner. Commenters who studied the scoreboard pointed out that this was a handicap tournament, where the net score decides the champion, and multiple players posted better net scores than Trump. In other words, he may not have won at all.
None of this is new. Sportswriter Rick Reilly wrote an entire book on Trump’s golf habits and once said that on a cheating scale of one to 10, “he’s an 11.”
There is also the detail Trump would rather skip. He claims almost no time to practice, yet he has golfed 115 days since returning to office, including 38 days this year alone.
A man who cheats at a game he owns, on a course he owns, in a tournament he hosts, is telling you exactly who he is.
